  One of canon's best lenses

The title that ebay gave this is a bit wrong, because this lens is also for the XT, Rebel, and 30D (as of this writing). Basically anything that fits the EF-S mount.

I just love, love, love this lens. I only wish they made this in EF mount, because that is where I'm heading body wise. Currently this has the closest focusing distance of the canon line-up. This lens is SUPER sharp. I use this lens for macro work on bugs and flowers. I'll also use it to do some aquarium work, since I can basically put the lens to the glass and remove any sort of reflections and distortion. The reason why I list that as a benefit is because of the focusing distance. If I were to have another lens, I would have to back away from the glass for the lens to focus on the subject. USM is very fast and accurate. I will say that when doing macro work, you need a steady hand, bump up the speed, or use a tripod. You can definitely see your hand shake in the viewfinder. It also has very nice bokeh.

Final verdict: This lens is one of my favorite, and is worth the money.

  My new Macro Buddy

I'm glad I went with this lens. After investigating many options I felt a lens that was optimized by the manufacturer to work with their digital camera would be the best bet. The price was also a factor and for under $400 this lens is worth every penny. I love to take macro photos of flowers so contrast, color and above all sharpness is my main concern. This lens did not let me down in any of these areas. Even wide open at a reasonably fast f/2.8 the frame looks sharp from edge to edge. Team this lens up with a quality macro ring flash and you will have a killer combo that will make you the envy of all your photo buddies. For a 1:1 magnifaction ratio, great build quality and pin sharp pictures this lens is a winner.

Very sharp, no abberations or vignetting of at all.
For only $400 this is probably the best Macro lens I've shot with.
The only thing I didn't like was that it doesn't work on my Canon 5D! (only works on ef-s mount bodies)

  Sharp

This lens is like a little sharp powerpack. It is a must have if you are a budding macro photographer. The quality and sharpness of the images produced by this lens are astounding. Unless you have a lot of light, a good flash or a tripod are must haves, but then, most serious photographers have those anyway. I was fortunate enough to get one of these with the hood for $340. It was a steal, and I have taken some pretty amazing pictures with it, bugs, eyes, flowers, you name it. If you want a good macro shot and can throw 400 bucks at a lens, I would do it.

It is too bad that it only comes in the EF-s mount, when I replace my XSi in the future, I will have to get an EF macro, but that is years away.

Never underestimate the power and freedom you get from using a quality tripod. Go Bogen, you won't regret it.

I love this lens. It has a solid fit to the camera (I used a 20D and now a 40D with it), tight fitting lens hood, and overall solid construction. Being a prime lens, the focus ring is the only moving part.

I find the focusing to be fast, especially compared to the 50mm Macro, and being USM it is near silent. It can focus very close, and produces excellent sharpness and contrast. This is a great lens and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again for a crop sensor camera. The only downside is inherent to the focal length - you must be very close for 1:1 macro shots, and the background isn't as blurred as the 100mm or 180mm macro lenses would be. That said, it doubles as an excellent portrait lens and it perfect for product shots (or for selling stuff on eBay!).

Love it!

  This Lens is great!

This is my 1st macro lens and it is awesome. The close ups are amazing, sometimes its slow to focus but when it does the pictures come out so clear. You have to have a very steady hand when using the lens when doing extreme macro shots. It is very compact and the eye focus is great for weight distribution. I would definitely recommend this lens to someone.

Great for close-ups of flowers and children/babies
Review created: 08/29/09

I just love taking photographs as a hobby. I already owned a Canon Rebel XTi camera with the standard lens and a zoom lens. I purchased this marco lens as my third lens to take close-up shots of nature and my children. I got some really great shots of my baby. Although it's a lot easier to take a shot of a flower than it is of an active toddler, I've still been able to get some wonderful shots of my children with it. I am really glad I got this lens.

  Better Than Kit Lens

Canon should replace their kit lens with this one. It works great. I am able to capture details like no other lens that I have owned. Will also be getting a new telephoto lens from beach also.

  Amazing lens for beginners
Review created: 06/21/09

I bought this lens from a person who was upgrading to a full frame camera system. It was gently used and I got a great deal (~$330). I used it over the weekend for some close-up shots of flowers and bugs in my mother's garden -- GREAT LENS! Very soft edges and blurred backgrounds on close-ups. Fast to focus, quiet motor and fairly lightweight.

I am very pleased! This and my 50mm prime lens are my favorite right now.

Fast Lens - Good build Quality
Review created: 06/20/09
by:

This lens has taken some marvelous pictures. The build quality is superb, featuring metal casing, and the USM autofocus motor is quick and quiet.

The lens optics are all internal, which is great for working close up or against glass (fish / aquarium photos).

Only downfall is its an EFS lens, not compatible with full frame cameras.

  Canon EF-S 60mm Macro
Review created: 03/29/09

Superb prime lens, excellent for macro and ideal for portrait photography. The lens creates great creamy bokeh. It is well worth the investment for crop sensor cameras. If you own a crop canon camera; you definitely need this lens.

The performance of Canon EF-S 60 mm lens
Review created: 12/08/08
by:

My decision to participate the bid was the way how the advertisement for the lens was posted, and also the final bid price. The lens was in very good condition, and I very much enjoy using it to take static micrographs. The negative part: to take images of moving objects requires strong light illumination and the image quality is not so great even if you use flash light.

I brought this lens to a wedding for my assistant to use, but I ended up using it almost the whole time. The photos came out very sharp and with the large aperture, I hardly ever used flash!
