Contrary to what was written by the other review, this lens will deliver what you pay for it. The L series is Canon's top of the line lenses and have time, quality, and superb optics. Look on the sidelines of most sports events, you will see the nicknamed, "white lenses" - the name refers to Canon's L series telephoto and supertelephoto lenses that are indeed white and have the signature red ring. If I could only buy one lens it would be A cannon 70-200 mm 2.8. (I own two and I am looking for a third.) This is a superb lens! I won't bore you with the tech. data, you can read that at cannons website. I use this lens for everything.I shoot sports, wedding , seniors, glamour, portraits, boudoir. I have this lens out more than any other lens in my collection. If you have never used one of the Cannon L's, SHUT-Up! They are worth the money! I am not sure how someone that has NEVER shot with this lens was able to write a review, however I'm sure they will delete it. Any how, I am a canon guy, that was once a Nikon guy. Nikon makes some fantastic glass, but if you obtain a "good copy" of both - the L will make up where the Nikon glass fails. I do not yet (own) one - however I have shot with this lens. And vs. my 28-135 IS lens (which is great) this 2.8L eat's it up. My hands shake quite a bit, so I certainlly prefer IS. If it's in studio then leave the IS out. :) Now I just have to get one of these in my full time posession. Oh and it will be true for me, once I go white - I won't go back. And no the 17-40L just doesn't do it for me. Review ID: 10000000000953956 Was this review helpful? Report this review 4 of 6 people found this review helpful. This is a superb lens for all kinds of photography. Canon L glass is among the best. I have used one constantly for 5 years and I'm only selling it to buy the IS version down the road. Obviously the bizarre review by this m7powers person is purely for trolling purposes. Unfortunately there's no category on the ebay reporting utility for trolling. I found that with the smaller sensor camera that the lens did not make the jump worth the extra cost. There is a major upgrade to the Sigma 70-200 that I was using. Only draw back is the weight. Heavy pro glass is heavy. So get a monopod or light weight tripod to keep it steady. In the studio, this is it! I find it more useful than my Canon 85mm f/1.2 lens in more situations. Since I can control the light, the extra stop of the 85mm does not overcome the amount of walking around to get the framing right. I like to frame my shots in the camera and not in Photoshop. I still use the 85mm for headshots where a tripod is in use, but for the rest I use this lens. Outdoors this is great and if you get the Canon 2X multiplier, you can get out to 400mm with minimum loss. Model shots at sunset with this lens is incredible. Near prime lens sharpness and speed make this a great travel companion when you want to keep the number of lens down. Review ID: 10000000002230106 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
