IntroductionThe Canon AE-1 was first introduced in the late 1970s, when I bought my first one. It is part of the A-series of cameras that had the basic bodies of the camera looking the same and only differed in level of features. This included the A-1, the one with the most features, down to the AT-1, the one with the least (manual mode, match needle metering as in the older "brick" model cameras put out by Canon such as the FTb, FT, TL, and TLb.) For today's photography students, the AE-1 is a very popular camera as it has all the features that one needs plus the shutter priority mode for snapshots. Even if you are not a photography student, a brief photography book explaining how to use the manual functions of this camera will substantially improve your photographs. Once these techniques are learned, "automatic photography" becomes a lot less attractive. I seldom have any camera (even my digital point and shoot that I use to create my ebay ads) on auto exposure.
Detailed DescriptionI love the AE-1 for the following reasons:
* It is simple to use with the knobs, buttons and handles in the right places;
