This is my third L series lens. I did not go out deliberately to buy these optics but having tried one out I was caught by the bug. I think it is the overall quality of these lenses that shows the moment you zoom the images in photoshop and realize that they are something special. My 24-70 L is amazing even at full aperture. The build quality is also of a very robust nature giving the user a very satisfying feeling. The only real gripe with this lens is the rather heavy weight but this is more than overcome by the quality of the images.
Everyone should own this gem- the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L is an extremely useful lens with a focal length range from a very wide 24mm to a moderately telephoto 70mm. This lens reaps extremely sharp images even wide open at any focal length. Did I mention this lens was fast? At f/2.8, its Ring USM autofocusing is blazingly fast and quiet and allows for manual focus override.
In short, this is one of the useful, powerful, and superb walkaround lenses ever created. Simply legendary.
The lens was delivered on time, the seller was very communicative through out the delivery process and definately went that extra mile to ensure I received the lens, which was in the same condition as described - GOOD so we were happy,
This has got to be one of Canon's best zoom lenses out there. It is obviously an L lens for a reason. I used to shoot with the Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 before I finally gave in and took the plunge on this baby. Wow, what a difference. The quality in detail and sharpness is amazing. It really makes the subject pop. I've done quality comparisons between the two and everything is just much more crisp.
So let's see- is it worth 2.5-3x the price? That's a tough question and it depends. If you are making money off of these shots, then the lens will pay for itself. If quality is important to you, then it's worth it. If this is just a hobby where you may spend a couple hours a month, then maybe it's not worth it. I will say that to me (I photog for money and pleasure), it was most definitely worth it!!
It's a pretty heavy lens. I also have the 24-105mm f/4, and use that as a travel lens, since it is much lighter and has a bit more range. The 24-70 I use if I want the best picture possible. Obviously the important factor is composition and having an eye for art, but I am just referring to the picture quality with respect to the lens taking it.
The bokeh is nice and smooth, just really makes the picture come together and pop.
I always say "invest in lenses and don't worry about the body so much." This lens be it on a MkII or Rebel makes everything shine.

I can believe this lens has 5s across the board. I would do just about anything to replace it. It's too big and it annoys me that the lens is at its largest when at 24mm. With the hood on it its liked having a 70-200 on your camera. It isn't worth $1100. Period.
the lens seems to be slightly out of focus. i may end up sending it in for repair or a ckeck up. this is supposto be one of top canon lenses. i saved 200.00. now i wonder if it was worth it. all this is a roll of the dice. i enjoy the 2.8.. for low light lens you have to sacrfice compactness and weight. my 28 to 90 average lens takes sharper film pictures which is a 5.6 slow lens. my main use is for nephews and neices inside gym games. im not shakey. just read that maby sony?? has image stabalization on the camera body so can use all of their lenses. went back to try to locate info. even in the throne area. loving wife deep sixed lot of mags. such is life. photo mags here and there. now maby get rid of all my canon film lenses and bodys for a complete change over. debateing. maby it was sigma i just cant remember dat gummit.
It's one that you should own for your Canon photography life. You can get the highest optic performance and great photos. The best one you should have!
