Okay, I admit it! I love the Nanny! I love Fran Drescher! Who knew the Queen from Queens would write not only one book, "Enter Whining", but a second! The books read pretty much the way you see her act, no nonsense, straight to the point, with a huge sprinkling of ~I don't give a damn attitude to boot!.

"Cancer Schmancer" is humorous, insightful, and full of information. It is about Ms. Drescher's fight with the world of medicine. She knew something was wrong, but could not find anyone to listen. Two years and eleven doctors later she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. This is her story, her life, written on paper to help other woman gain control.

Personally, I feel every woman should read this book, whether you are going through uterine cancer, another type of reproductive cancer, or NOT.

The point is driven home! Know your body, know your medications, but more importantly~Listen to your body. When you are told everything is normal, all test results (which are generalized to say the least), show you are okay, but your body is telling you otherwise... feet get moving and find someone that will listen to you!

It is exhausting, but worth it when you finally find the physician that doesn't think you are over reacting, or thinks you need to see a psychiatrist!

You find out, you are not alone out there!

All of this and more are written in this book, and done so in a way that makes you laugh, and cry all at the same time!

I bought a copy of this book a long time ago for myself when I was going through a rough time trying to find out what was happening with me. It took a very long time, and it cost me dearly when I was finally diagnosed.
I will repeat the message of this book... listen to your body! Find a physician that listens to you, and your body, and doesn't rely on tests to make concrete decisions. Tests are only a guide.

Why did I buy another copy of this book? I couldn't part with mine just yet..
So I bought another one...

Recently, a friend of mine had surgery and was going through something similar, so I searched for this book on ebay, read feedbacks to find the right seller for me, and bought the book. The seller was gracious and sent the book directly to her for me so no time was wasted in lifting her spirits.

She loved the book, and found it very helpful.

The intention of this book when written by Ms. Drescher is still being carried out today. It is lovingly being passed along, and helping both women, and MEN!

A huge Todah Rabah (Thank you very much) to Fran Drescher for writing about such a personal experience, and sharing it with us, so that it might help others.

Cancer Schmancer by Fran Drescher was a great book. It is interesting to see how different people handle different situtions. It was also nice to get different perspectives and attitudes on a subject that so many can relate to.

Lost a daughter to Breast Cancer at age 34 so any story regarding cancer is interesting. Our daughter also had several miss-diagnosis as did Fran! It is such a shame that doctors can be so wrong and still continue to practice medicine. Trillions on stimulus, billions to the moon and still no cure. Maybe more books like this will show society where real money should be spent.

I was awaiting test results for uterine cancer when I learned of this book with the interview Mike Huckabee had with Fran Dresher on his show. I appreciate the straight forward 1st hand account of the disease. I now know I have uterine cancer and wish I had known about this book before now. The medical community makes women take a back seat when it comes to their health issues of any kind. We are hard working tax paying citizens too and deserve the same kind of treatment that the men do. WE ARE NOT 2ND CLASS CITIZENS!
Fran deserves to serve out Hillary's term, by informing women of this deadly disease and fighting for our medical rights.

All too human account of surviving the big "C" LOVED IT
Review created: 02/05/08

I loved Fran Drescher's first book titled ENTER WHINING, so just HAD to have the 2nd book. Ms. Drescher exposes the very human side of undergoing the whole ordeal of surviving cancer. It's very "raw" and truthful about the uglyness of the disease and the treatments of it's victims. I see Ms. Drescher as a hero that was strong enough to adress this disease eye to eye and she stared it down through sheer will and determination. She fought for her right to live and went toe to toe with the medical community that treats women like 2nd class citizens. She tells of the nightmare that she had to go through so that we might be able to face that dread disease with a bit of understanding and knowledge. Fran, wherever you are, I admire you!
