Camp Pop: the new HSM

Disney have obviously been wracking their brains to think of a way to follow up the High School Musical phenomenon, and this project is definitely of that ilk. This time the kids are out of a school context and away at camp for the summer, a camp for performing arts, would you have guessed it? There are no surprises here. The songs are formulaic, of the 'Be Yourself' and 'Follow Your Heart and/or Dream' variety, that Americans seem to find so inspirational. The execution is, as you'd also expect, flawless and production values are high. It's not exactly Rock, more like MOR Pop but it's pleasant listening all the same. I bought this CD, having recently become aware of the wonderful Jonas Brothers' bid for world domination, and my appetite has been well and truly whetted for the British screening of the movie. The bonus DVD is a little cheesy and there's not enough of Joe Jonas and his unique sense of humour, but all in all the package is great value. Really looking forward to the film.
