  Long Live the Bee Gees!
Review created: 04/07/09

Bee Gees still turn out great music. The group took a lot of criticism after the disco era had passed (although I enjoyed that music too), but really have pretty much stayed with the current trend of music as demonstrated by this album with the exception of the song "Technicolor Dreams". That song is not my favorite however it shows their versatility.

  Bee Gees last album together.....
Review created: 03/24/09

The title of the album: "This Is Where I Came In", now makes me a little sad, since it was their last album together before Maurice died. I love the title track, and the 'back to their roots' foundation for this album. Maurice really was mostly in the background for so many years, and finally he gets to do lead vocals on songs, but then passes away, MUCH too soon. This album shows that even in their 50's, the Bee Gees still had it, and people still wanted to hear them. They will be sorely missed. Listen to this album, not just to 'hear' the songs...but to 'listen'. There's a difference. Same goes for "Spirits Having Flown" and "Main Course". There will never be another group like the Brothers Gibb.

Grooving In After The Definitive Collection
Review created: 03/29/07
by: wlswarts -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Good vocals, Decent music, Some excellent lyrics

Cons:
Musically unimaginative and derivative

It turns out that one of my most read reviews around here is a review of The Bee Gees' two-disc singles collection (available at: http://www.epinions.com/content_49354149508 , if you've not yet read and rated it, please do!). New to that collection at the time was the track "This Is Where I Came In," which I enjoyed; I thought it illustrated that the Bee Gees could still make music that was decent, intriguing and of a high quality. So, when I stumbled upon the 2001 album "This Is Where I Came In," I found myself intrigued enough to pick it up and give it a spin. "This Is Where I Came In" is.

Their Best Album since "Spirits Having Flown"
Review created: 04/24/01
by: rahu69 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
They still got the goods after nearly 40 years.

Cons:
Barry needs to tone down that melodramatic, breathy vibrato of his.

The days of the Bee Gees struggle to compete in the music industry is over. Their new release, "This is Where I Came In" definitely fulfills this lofty proclamation. From their new single that is the title track to the very cool rocking last tune "Voice in the Wilderness", the Brothers Gibb pull out all the stops with this, their 22nd studio album. Coincidentally, it is also their best album in 22 years. Back in 1997, the Bee Gees released "Still Waters", which is basically the effect it had on the music charts at the time. It had one hit single with "Alone" and then quickly faded into...

Bee Gees Go Off "Main Course"; Rediscover Robin
Review created: 11/30/01
by: willy575 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Solid effort by a great veteran band. All of the members are highlighted.

Cons:
The experimenting sometimes comes at the expense of providing classic Bee Gee moments.

In 1975, when the Bee Gees discovered their new falsetto, R

This is Where I Like It
Review created: 04/25/01
by: Jack1963 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
All the songs are potential hits.

Cons:
It took so long to be released!

What a refreshing treat to have the Bee Gees come back so strong with this new album. After several interesting but somewhat forgetful albums in the last 15 years, "This Is Where I Came In" certainly proves that the Bee Gees are force to be reckoned with. From the title track that has 'smash hit' written all over it to the beautiful "Wedding Day" that will certainly be the background for many future nuptials, the Gibb Brothers prove that they can still write and sing better than most any other act in the industry. The variations in style for each of the tracks on this album make it more like..

  Top hits in 5 decades!
Review created: 04/28/01
by: defabrizio -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great mixture of songs

Cons:
None

No other artists have accomplished what the brothers Gibb have in the past 5 decades. This release is a wonderful mix of love songs and toe tapping music. Certainly worth the $16 I paid, with 12 songs and over 50 minutes of play including a video you can play on your computer. My favourite one is Sacred Trust which is typical Bee Gees style and harmony with leads by Barry lending his unique form. Wedding Day comes in a close second with a beautiful melody, which is not overpowered by instruments. Being a long time fan of this group, I look forward to each new release, although they seem to be.
