This purchase turned out to be a fraud. While I thought I was getting a set of Callaway X Tour irons I actually got a set of cheap counterfeit Callaway X18s from China. I tried to file a claim with PayPal under their Buyer Protection Program however PayPal has refused to honor their guarantee. I am not trying to file a claim with eBay but so far most of my emails have been ignored. Be very cautious as neither PayPal or eBay appear willing to cooperate and honor their alleged Buyer protection programs.

Naturally the addage, "if it's too good to be true, it usually is", would apply here. Sellers from China, having taken over an American citizen's ebay account in a northern state, were trafficking high end golf equipment stating to be original. Not so. - But - I received my purchase in 2 days and found my clubs to be very high end fakes. I kept them and have been using them. In summary, if the Chinese would be honest and upfront they could possibly make a good business for themselves.

  Worth every penny

I have owned just about every type of forged iron on the market at one time or another. Titleist, Mizuno, Nike, Hogan just to name a few. These irons are easier to hit than the others. They are the most forgiving forged irons I have owned. You still need to hit the "sweet spot" for optimum results, but slight mis-hits don't punish you in the same way traditional forged irons do. There is no compromise with the feel either. The top line and overall size of the club head is slightly bigger, but it didn't take much to get used to. Workability is not sacrificed at all. They are pricey, but in my opinion, they are worth every cent. It would an extremely special iron to make me give these up.

  Callaway X-tour Irons

The Callaway X-Tour irons are exactly what I was looking for. They have a lot of forgiveness built into them, yet because they are forged they still have a soft feel. Miss hits do not hurt as bad as with a cast club. I am hitting the ball much straighter due to the Royal Percision 6.0 Rifle shafts. I was never much on Callaway clubs until I hit the X-Tours. I would recommend these for anyone who wants a pro line club that is easy to hit, very forgiving on miss hits and looks good at address.

  Callaway X-20 - Ripped Off

Auction Item 160260441959, ended on 7/12/08. I paid with PayPal that same day and have never received the clubs, have emailed the seller many times with no response back. The seller was from China and had 3 other auctions for the same type clubs going at the saem time, all ending with in an hour of each other. The seller closed their acount with both ebay and Paypal after receiving their funds. Made a dispute claim with PayPal and to date have only received $200.00 of the $370.00 I paid. Still waiting for the rest of my refund, totally wrong for Ebay and Paypal to allow their customers to be ripped off and do little about it. I am done with Ebay, can not bid with confidence of protection from fraudulant sellers.

Be aware fo seller lx9802, email lx9808@yeah.net, they will rip you off.

X Tours are as good as advertised

I have been using forged clubs for a long time because I like the feel of them. I'm a 7 handicap and these X tours are the easiest forged clubs to hit that I have ever played with. I hit them about 1/2 club further than I normally do, but I am not sure if that's due to the clubs or because I swing harder because I am more confident. I highly recommend them.

  Callaway X Tour Irons

I decided to buy the X-Tour based on information I'd read and the eye appeal of the product. For a forged club, you'll be amazed by the ease with which you can effectively hit these irons. The notch weighting provides a remarkable amount of forgiveness all the while creating a very large sweet spot. Unlike some other forged clubs I've owned, the feedback of these clubs is smooth, and not at all harsh. I am confident that golfers of any level will be delighted with this product and it's performance. It is a tremendous offering, combining some of the best features of both forged and cast clubs. In a quote, "if you have the means,.. I highly recommend them."

Finally, A More Traditional-Looking Callaway Iron!
Review created: 07/13/06(updated 10/26/07)
by:
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Having played MP33 blades for several years, I was impressed with the smaller, pro-type heads and notched cavity-back weighting of the X-Tours. As you know, most tour pros have switched to cavity-back irons for more forgiveness these days. (Hey, the truth hurts!) The X-Tours are slightly more forgiving than traditional blades, especially in the long irons. The set up makes shot shaping easy. You get good feedback from miss hits, though not the buttery feel of blades from center hits.

The X-Tours feel heavier than other irons, but they appear to be more durable. With the X-Tours, shots fly higher than traditional blades and shorter, noticeably shorter than you would expect with a Callaway iron. In fact, your shots will stop perhaps one-half club or more shorter than with Callaway X-18s. In addition, the notch-back cavity creates a channel between the weight and the clubface that makes cleaning a bit of a pain.

I owned the X-18 Pro Series irons prior to the X-Tours. Compared to the X-18 Pro Series, the X-Tours are less forgiving and a club shorter. However, the X-Tours are smaller, better looking and allow better shot shaping because they have less offset. Overall, a solid, versatile and somewhat forgiving performer that is also nice looking and whispers "this guy has game."

If you're a serious golfer and you really love all things Callaway, I recommend you at least demo the X-Forged before purchasing the X-Tours. Even at pre-owned prices, their negatives may outweigh their positives.

These clubs are great I have played only 5 rounds and have found them to be as advertised. The 3-4-5 have the improved distance and and are forgiving enough to make up for the mishits. Th 6 & 7 have a little more distance but I have developed a slight draw with them which is great. The 8-9-pw have a great feel and can hit a more accurate shot closer to the pin. Overall I would say their great, Take a chance and get these clubs in your bag.

  The best Callaway's ever?
Review created: 10/05/07

6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I've played several sets of Callaway irons over the past twenty years and the only complaint I've ever had was the amount of offset, even in the pro series irons. The X-Tour irons finally answer my prayers and I have enjoyed having the look I'm used to and prefer with the forgiveness of Callaway design. Simply the best looking Callaway irons ever and maybe the best feeling to boot. Of course forged irons will feel better than cast but these bring a whole new range of feelings into play when you hit them. Possibly not as forgiving but then again much easier to work the ball both ways when you want to make a shot into a tough pin placement. Slightly heavier feel than other models but that could be the shaft was much as anything else. I've tried the newest X-forged but preferred this older model so that says it all I guess!

  Callaway X Tour Irons
Review created: 08/02/07
by:
6 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I recently purchased my second set of Callaway X Tour irons. I had bought a set about a year ago, but was offered a substantial profit and sold them. In the mean-time I played with other Callaway irons, Taylor Made irons, and Ping irons, but none of them felt as good as the X Tour irons. Although I continue to play with the Ping Raptures, I saw the X Tour irons on ebay at a very reasonable price and decided that I would like to have them. Now I have two sets and my biggest problem is deciding which set of irons I want to play with. The reason there are so many golf clubs is that there are so many golf swings, but the Callaway X Tour irons just suit me; the weight, the balance, the accuracy and the distance I get. I'm well satisfied with my purchase and plan on hanging on to those clubs this time around.

  Two cheers

Don't get me wrong - the X Tour is a very good iron. Phil Mick and a bunch of PGA Tour players do OK with them. For anyone used to traditional Callaway irons, it is a great combination of forgiveness and playability. But coming from a more traditional iron such as a Mizuno or Titleist, it may be too much of a compromise, and that compromise occurs wit the short irons. The wedge and 8 and 9 irons are just a little too clunky for me and the feel and touch is not the same as a Mizuno.

I was a +5 handicap, I then took two years off from the game and now I can't hit the ball worth a crap, so I got rid of my Titleist 690MB Tour Blades because I needed something easier too hit. The Callaway X-Tours were just what I needed. Great ball flight, not very workable and limited feel comapred to the blades, but overall, they are easy to hit and suit me just perferctly. I would recomend them to anyone that's a 12-0 handicap looking to take there game to the next level, it's tough to mis hight these things.

THese are top notch irons made by one of the best manufactures in the world. These irons are very forgiving considering they are a blade style and yet still let you know when you make a hit that is anything less than pure. It has been a real treat to play golf with these.

  My 2nd Set
Review created: 03/26/08
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is my second set of X-Tour irons. Both are 2* flat. The first set had dynamic gold regular flex shafts. This set has Project X 5.0 shafts. All reviews showed that the workability was better with the Project X. The X-Tour irons have always been a great iron for accuracy and forgiveness. I am a 10 handicap and 52 years old. Played 3 days during the Easter weekend, each day the accuracy improved with the new set. Hit 70% of the greens in regulation during those 3 days, which is exceptional for me. Chipping usually carries me. I am convinced that these clubs will take me to the next level, get in the 70's and stay there. There is enough feedback in these clubs to tell you when you are not hitting correctly, but enough forgiveness to keep you in the game. You don't necessarily need to be a 10 handicap to enjoy them either. The feedback will make you work on getting the ball in the sweet spot. Then it is "Game ON"! They will make you a better golfer.

I like the style of the X-Tour irons and the rifle shafts that came with it are the best shafts in the industry. I have hit Callaway irons in the past and really like them better than any that I have ever tried. That is the reason that I decided to buy the new X-Tour irons.

I'v bought clubs several times on eBay. Every seller say their clubs are great.
It's common sense. Some cases I got clubs bad condition. I wish eBay has a rule
to load some giuded pictures. I mean they sould load clear pictures of their clubs according to eBay Picture Loading Rules.

  X tour
Review created: 03/22/07
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I like this set it offers a nice blend of forgiveness and workability, I use a variety of irons but feel very confidant in the X tours I do however have a problem while using the 5 iron, my ball flight tends to be high and with the x tour 5 iron I get an average loss of around 10 yards. I like the feel from a pure shot, but cringe when I hit one off the toe, with all that said I do recommend them as a better golf set.
