Looking for a strong 3 Wood here it is.

This 3 wood is longer then the normal 3 wood and gives you that little extra swing arch to get a little extra length wise. The head is small enough to get through the rough, if you happen to miss the fairway. This is also a great club to hit off the tee on those tight fairways where you still need distance, but you might be a little wild with the big headed driver. I decided to buy this club because of its versitility. I can use to on a number of shots during a round and not give up a lot of distance if I don't use the driver on certain holes.

  Great fairway wood from Callaway..

One of the better fairway woods from Callaway.. The "HOT" model 3 wood has a slightly larger head than the normal X series (2006 or 2008 models) but still retains a small enough appears that playing from the fairway should not affect your confidence. For those old enough to have used 'woods’, heh, it actually has a rather normal shape and size.
This specific model has a comfortably shallow face for its heel to toe length which makes it quite easy to get the ball in the air regardless of the lie. It is also longer than a normal 3 wood, for those not aware, and is only 1" shorter than a standard driver shaft. This has seen much debate among some players, but the benefit (other than being incredibly long hitting) is that it allows the player to tweak it to their needs...
If you are a player that doesn't really hit a 3 wood from the fairway, you can leave it alone and have a very long hitting and accurate alternative to your driver for better 2nd shot placement off the tee when needed.
If you do tend to play more from the fairway, but just can't quite get comfortable with the length, you can just lop off the extra inch or choke up on it if your grip size allows, and have a noticeably long and accurate 3 wood for your lengthy par 5s.
Before you start hacking off the shaft however, I suggest you just set it behind the ball and swing it! - You will be pleasantly surprised with its extra length, accuracy, and you won't even think about that extra inch.. ;=)

Another Great Fairway wood from Callaway
Review created: 10/31/09

a Great oversized 3 wood an amazing hit. the larger club face and head gives a grat approch to the ball... but to those who dont know the shaft is the key there is a +1inch on each shaft on the X-hot allowing a 15-40 yards fether then your previous fairway wood. you can use this club if you a 20+ handy cap to a 2 it really dousnt matter it the callaway x hot hits strait and true even from those tough lies or off the tee.

  Callaway X 3 LH
Review created: 10/23/09

Great club. Very comfortable with a great 'sweet spot.'

The shaft's length makes it feel like a hybrid. However, after getting a feel, it hits long and true.

I'm hitting 30 yards further than my old 3 wood.
