I have owned several sets of irons, in fact, some from each major manufacturer. I am around a 15 handicap, definitely not good enough for these 'player' irons. Yet I love the classic look of a smaller head. Sprung for the set with Rifle Project X flighted shafts - was amazed at the club. It is a very forgiving club, which greatly surprised me. Not much lost distance on a mishit. They are exceptionally long even though they are not bent stronger than traditional blades. They are very easy to work left and right - in fact I could never hit a fade with my irons, but can easily work it left to right with these. They have a very soft feel, and the flighted irons combined with the flighted shafts produce some pretty towering 3 iron shots, which I have never been able to do before. Definitely my favorite set of irons when compared to any other brand I have owned! No mid-handicapper should be scared of these clubs.

These are a sweet set of irons and are an easy blade to hit. Don't be afraid because when you set up to them, they don't look like butter knifes but instead look like birdie machines.

Play hard and yes, you can carry that lake!!!!

Best clubs callaway makes. Hands Down!

Very reponsive irons, more forgiving than expected. accurate if you are, not so much if hit incorrectly. Thought this iron were more for an experienced player, but not the case. I average high 98, and I hit a 91 first time out. These make you focus on your swing, too make solid contact, because if you hit it on the toe or heel your done, not as forgiving as other Callaway irons, but deadly accurate if hit properly. The feel is good, feedback immediatly lets you know where you ball is going to end up. Had X-18 pro series, which are much more forgiving(and Heavier!)

This is the best iron set I've ever had.
Review created: 11/07/09

My old iron set had NS950 shafts which were too light for me. This iron set has DG300, very good feeling. Also, soft steel heads are small, thin, and beautiful that make me confident. Finally I got very good distance and direction. Perfect.

  Callaway X-Forged Irons

These are by far the best irons I have ever played. I have played competitive golf for over 20 years. I have played with AP1, S59's and Ta3's. The X-Forged have a far better feel off contact with the ball. I am able to work the ball left to right, right to left better with these irons. I play hybrid longs irons, but have hit X-forged 3 and 4 iron and plan to play them on windy days. I brought these irons because they came 1 degree flat from the factory, but I was looking for these irons all the time.

  Callaway X Forged Irons
Review created: 10/26/09

I am a mid-range handicap player that used to play alot of golf and have a low handicap. I was playing a set of older Titleist forged irons and looking for something different that would not compromise the feel but allow me more forgiveness. It was a toss up for me between the Callaway "X Forged" and the Callaway "X-22 Tour" Irons. I loved them both, but I am used to the feel of a forged iron. Because of the feel, the "X Forged" let you feel when you are striking the ball well or not. This does not take away from their amazing forgiveness, but helps you become a better player. I have a tendency to make impact with the ball toward the hozzle and even when I did, these irons still gave me plenty of distance and accuracy while giving me the feel that I was missing the sweetspot. To me, that is the description of a great forged iron. The iron heads are not unbearably small either, so it gives you a larger sweetspot than some other forged irons. The Project X 6.0 rifle shafts in these irons have a good look and feel to them. I have a swing speed in the low 100's, so I do not necessarily need an extra stiff shaft, but the 6.0 felt just right for me. They were definitely stiff, but the feel at impact was smooth and it did not feel like I was swinging a 2X4. I would rate this set of irons as an excellent choice for those golfers in the mid-handicap range, who are playing frequently and looking to take the next step toward becoming a lower-handicap player.

Excellent feel and weight. Best clubs I have ever used!

Forged clubs have the reputation as the best for a reason. These are a prime example of why Callaway is number one in irons. If you love forged clubs or are looking for the best at a good price Callaway forged irons are the right choice. Excellent blades.

  Excellent Forged Iron - Callaway X 2009
Review created: 10/09/09
by:

What I like the most about the Callaway X-Forged 2009 irons:
1 clean, classic, beautiful looks
2 really fist class construction and finish
3 sweet solid ball striking
First forged I have owned; there may be other equals; but I love these.
If you like their looks, I can't see how you could go wrong.
I think many people make the mistake of going too stiff on their irons.
Unless you're Hulk Hogan, regular (5.0) will probably produce the best results.

bought used Callaway iron set with S300 Dynamic Gold shafts ( which only means something to golfers ). The clubs were in excellent shape. The shafts were in fact Dynamic Gold SL ( Super Light ) shafts - which would not have kept me from buying the set - but still not quite the right description. Then
they came with ugly - oversize - Winn grips - again not a big deal - I would have re-gripped anyway - BUT - under the old grips - the shafts had been "extended" with plugs and the lengths were somewhat - shall we say - inconsistent. Overall not unhappy - let's say disappointed. I am a middle aged guy with a business - and the price the transaction went from a good deal to something less than that. You pay your money and take your chances.

  Callaway X - Tour irons (2007)
Review created: 09/05/09
by:

These are the finest irons I have ever hit. The ball rockets off the club face and lands with spin. I am very straight with these irons but they are easy to work when needed. The Precision X rifled shafts are awesome. I really like the traditional size and the thin top line at set up. Probably not for high handicappers but great clubs for a mid to low handicap player looking to upgrade to forge irons.

  Rediculous!!
Review created: 07/14/09
by:

These irons are fantastic. Rediculous trajectory. When you catch the ball clean there is not a better feeling. Drop ball after ball on the pin. Must have for serious Callaway fans. The feedback will improve your swing. Cavity back clubs are more forgiving but also mask swing imperfections. By covering your mistakes you will only limit your score improvements. With these clubs you can fix them.

  good set
Review created: 06/10/09

The shape of the irons are great, however, was not noted that they were cut down by 1 or so inches. There was a graphite extention in each club but was not glued to the end of the shaft, which made a loose connection under the grip. I had to strip the grips off and appoxy in a steel extention to match the steel shafts and put new grips back on. If I had to pay for this adjustment I would have left negative feedback. Just be sure next time to thoroughly describe the item up for sale so there would be no more surprises. The transaction was smooth though, and shipping was very fast!

LIKE GOING BACK IN TIME YET A MORE FORGIVING TIME....
Review created: 04/04/09
by:

My journey to these irons stated with adding 3 Callaway vintage wedges to my setup. The feel and the instant feedback (I put Rifle Project x shafts--stiff--
in them. At 61 yrs old, I chose the 5.5, bit less stiff than the 6.0 and the 6.5
is extra stiff. It is like going back in time to my Hogan Apex irons which I learned to play with and went through 3-5 sets. After 20 yrs of game imp. irons,
could not look at traditional blade like that---if I could, would seriously consider the Callaway forged prototypes--may be most btfl irons I have seen.
At 165--170 yds with 6 iron in hands, I am thinking "close"--not green. I also know immed. whether that is the case. Not the player I once was but I feel like a player again with these irons--confident. Wish I had these in my hands last 20 yrs while going through many sets of irons. I replaced my graphite shafted Call--x-18's(why did we ever go to graphite with irons when steel is so much more accurate anyway?) May add 5 yds to 2-3 irons--3yds to 4 iron and nothing beyond that---when did I last fire at green with 2 or 3 iron where I needed 5 yds to carry water?--1982, in club tourn. as I recall!!!! These irons
are easy to adapt to--looks and feel, you won't be unhappy, it's like the feel of tagging a fastball with wood bat right on the barrel! No---not about to go back one of my 'persimmons." Tried that a few yrs ago and scared the snakes. Way too much technology to give up 460cc driver of today but irons--you can go
back in time and find it a more forgiving time than when you left it.

Best set of golf clubs I have ever owned. Make sure you get the rifle shafts with them. Callaway has hit a home run with these clubs. Very thin top line and when you hit them sweet there is nothing like it.

These irons hit very well. Very well balanced. Very smooth swing and somewhat forgiving. I decided to buy these irons because a friend recommended them and they were already extended. Not too mention the price was right for these irons.
