Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver

Unfortunately this review is more of a commentary on the risk/reward of buying clubs sight unseen on eBay than on the merits of this particular club. My experience has been mixed on ten or so purchases. One seller never sent the club, another packed it poorly so the shaft broke and three sold clubs with no serial number. The Big Bertha II driver I bought fell into the last category. The club looked fine but when I hit it on the range it had no pop. When I compared it to new clubs in the pro shop, I saw that my driver lacked a serial number on the heel. Most likely it was a counterfeit.
Fortunately the seller took it back but I still lost the shipping costs. So ask about serial numbers before bidding, especially on high markup brands like Callaway, and check on return policy. Even a serial number can be bogus, so try the club out as soon as possible. A reputable seller should take it back, although they are probably aware that they are selling a possible fake.
