Avoiding a Fake Callaway FT-i Driver

Most if not all of the auctions with heads only were from China or Hong Kong. The sellers had a mixture of feedback with 1 or 2 out of 10 negative due to fake driver. The sellers usually do not have a great number of feedbacks.

The selling method has changed somewhat lately with the fakes being sold by users registered in the USA but still heads only. The other problem now is there have been hundreds if not thousands of fake drivers sold to USA buyers. These buyers are now selling the fakes once they find out. Here is a list of what to look for and how to avoid being sold a fake.

1. Avoid auctions from China and Hong Kong.
2. Avoid any auction for driver head only.
3. Check sellers other items for sale. If they are selling only Callaway FT-i drivers avoid this seller.
4. Ask seller to provide the serial number. If they do not respond avoid the seller. If they provide a serial number you can email Callaway customer service and ask if the serial number is legit. Also ask if the serial number has been registered already.
5. Don't be fooled by pictures. The pictures on a bad auction will not be the driver they are sending.
6. Avoid sellers that are new to Ebay or have really less than 100 + feedbacks selling golf equipment.
7. Avoid any auction for a driver listed in a non golf category. They use this tactic to avoid Ebay dumping the auction.
8. Avoid any 1 day auction with a "Buy Now".

Two ways to detect the fakes are:

1. No serial number on the hosel.
2. Thin spray painted finish instead of powder coated.

  Best Driver Ever...Period
Review created: 04/10/08

OK, I have been playing golf for about 30 years now and have used practically every type of driver there is. When I was learning the game around 9 years of age, my driver was an old Wilson 4 wood that my dad had lying around in the garage. Then I went through the Spalding wood driver stage, the metal woods, and then the Big Bertha era came along and suddenly the bar was raised in terms of the drivers design, performance, and quality. I really didnt think things could get much better than the Great Big Bertha when that club came out. I used that for a few years along with a few different Titleist drivers until last year when I demo'd the FT-i at my club. HOLY COW!!! The FT-i is absolutely, positively, the greatest driver ever made (in my opinion of course). First of all, the sound this club makes is awesome. Its that high pitched CRACK sound that makes heads turn. I love it! But the best part of this club is its performance. UNBELIEVABLE! Even mis-hits and off-center hits result in decent shots because of this clubs forgiveness. I have the 9 degree Neutral model and the ONLY problem I have with this club is that I hit the ball to high with it, therefore, I end up losing yardage. But if you are a low-trajectory hitter, this club will be perfect for you. If you hit a high ball like I do, buy the Low Center of Gravity version of this FT-i. Trust me on this one. Unfortunately, the LCG FT-i wasnt available when I purchased mine, but it is available now. Even so, this club is amazing. Like I said before, even the mis-hits result in good shots. And Im not just blowing smoke here. Sure the mis-hits dont go as far as center hit balls, but they still end up in the fairway off of this clubface. The club is simply amazing. My advice to you before buying it is to demo one first to see what type of ball flight you get from it. Or, if you already know you are a high-ball hitter, go ahead and DEFINITELY purchase the LCG version. You will get an extra 10-20 yards by doing so.

FT-i Driver The i is for Incredible!

I withheld reviewing this club until I'd played it for a while. I shoot in the low 80's. I bought the 10 degree, stiff flex, neutral biased model. I simply love this club. It is much more forgiving than the Pro Staff Driver or the Tommy Amour 845 I used prior to the FT-i. I'm getting around 20-30 extra yards per drive and I find it a very workable draw or fade club. This club will not make a professional golfer out of someone who isn't, and it will not cure poor swing issues. That being said, the enormous sweetspot and perimeter weighting makes for an incredibly forgiving and versatile driver that, all things being equal, should yield you a consistantly straighter and longer drive. Both of those traits translate into more confidence, and confidence on the course breeds confidence. And that sure feels good. It's always nice when you can smile leaving the Tee box. :o)

  Reviewing FT-i Driver

I like the look, how straight I hit it, and a little extra distance. I have the FT-5 as well and it goes just as straight but is not quite as long.

Great club, I'm hitting more fairways than previously
Review created: 10/15/08

I bought this club based on reviews I read online. Most say it's not a long hitting club and that it trades some distance for accuracy. I'd say that is pretty accurate although I do get ahold on one on occasion and it goes further than I expected. My first round I played with it, I hit 12 out of 18 fairways and the second and third I hit 13 out of 18. Not bad considering I was getting about half of that on average before (5-7 out of 18 on average).

I've also hit about 6 large buckets with it at the range and it has proven to be pretty straight. I'm a natural fader which can manifest as a wicked slice when I hit it wrong so I need a fairly forgiving club to hit it well.

So overall I'm really pleased, especially if you can get a great deal on this club as the retail is much higher than it is here on ebay.

The only problem was the seller charged for two day shipping and it took fifteen days to arrive. I never was able to contact the seller even calling the contact number or by email. I will never buy from the seller again.

Depends on YOUR style and swing - - -

When I first hit it, it took about 20 hits to get in to the 'swing' of things (ha). One problem for me, is that I am 5' 9" and this club is extremely long for me (about 2 inches longer than my Nike Sasquatch clubs). At first I actually had shots that went up and faded to the right . . TOO far right. Once I choked up on the club about 3 inches, I found myself hitting it well ,but a little high (I prefer a 8.5 loft, this is a 10.5) If you need some loft, and are tall, this may be the club for you. For me, the 'draw' aspect did not make much difference. I would definitely reccommend hitting it at your local Club, pro shop, etc before buying. you may like it! Just not quite for me . .

  Be more consistent
Review created: 01/03/08

If you want to hit the ball in the fairway then this driver is for you. Square head technology allows the club face to be more square at impact. Straighter shots equals less rough. The weight is repositioned in the far corners in the back of the head. Be more consistent and hit it even further.

In one word - GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT!! I have been playing with a 10 degree draw X-Stiff for a year and get 240-260 out of it

The trajectory on this 8.5 is SO different. This is a Sniper Rifle compared to the 10. It is low and under the wind and makes the ball very much more workable. It takes noticeably more muscle to hit this shaft effectively but the added accuracy and distance is well worth the effort!

This club is an excellent very forgiving club, my recommendation is if your interested in this club then go for it, please use caution when shopping for one make sure you ask the buyer if the club is authentic and could he guarantee that, there are a ton of fake counterfeit clubs out there and very hard to tell if you don't know that much about clubs, they may look similar but they don't play similar by no means, and there's a good chance a ton of people have them and don't know it, so if your reading this have you clubs checked for authenticity don't judge the club until you know, you might be hitting the ball with a piece of garbage.

Controllable distance off of the tee. This driver turns those par 4's into short iron shots for the 2nd shot and par 5's reachable in 2. It truelly has made golfing fun, again.

With all the hoopla over the FT-i driver, I just had to try one. Being a callaway nut I have used several different drivers. I was disappointed in the FT-i. I will sell it and stick to my FT-3 Driver (great driver)

Awesome club ! Love the square head. Hits it straight AND long. The club feels light as a feather and swings easy. The stiff shaft is just that, nice and stiff.

  callaway ft-i draw driver 11*
Review created: 07/03/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have hit a truck load of drivers and they all sliced on me but this callaway driver is the straightest hitting club I've ever hit. I consider myself a weekend golfer for the last 15 years. I have never made an eagle on the golf course but since I bought this callaway driver three weeks ago I've had TWO EAGLES......AMAZING FOR ME. If you need a long, straight hitting club this is it........no lie.

I think the senior shaft really fits me. The ball seems to jump off of the face of the club and the swing weight feels good. I have a lot of confidence when I use it that I will be in the fairway.

I did not think I would ever like a square head but this driver looks good at set up. The ball really goes but I wish I would have gotten a 11* instead of the 10*.
With stick shaft you need to swing slow and not try to over power the ball. The low kick point launches the ball and has a great trampoline affect.
