About the Manufacturer
The story of Callaway Golf begins with the company’s founder and namesake Ely Callaway, a passionate businessman and well known figure in the game of Golf. The company got its start when Mr. Callaway bought a small wedge and putter company called “Hickory Stick USA”, which later became “Callaway Hickory Stick USA” and eventually “Callaway Golf”. From the beginning the company was committed to producing quality product for golfers of all skill levels. Mr. Callaway called it “Demonstrably Superior and Pleasingly Different” (DPSD) golf clubs. Though the company has grown exponentially since it’s modest start in 1982 (when Mr.Callaway would deliver product himself from the back of his Cadillac) the commitment to innovation and quality remains. Now a publicly traded company, Callaway is one of the most visible names in golf with a product line that encompasses the full spectrum of equipment and accessories including drivers, irons, wedges, putters and balls. Callaway golf also owns Top-Flite Golf Company, Odyssey Putters, Ben Hogan and Strata Brands.

Most if not all of the auctions with heads only were from China or Hong Kong. The sellers had a mixture of feedback with 1 or 2 out of 10 negative due to fake driver. The sellers usually do not have a great number of feedbacks.

The selling method has changed somewhat lately with the fakes being sold by users registered in the USA but still heads only. The other problem now is there have been hundreds if not thousands of fake drivers sold to USA buyers. These buyers are now selling the fakes once they find out. Here is a list of what to look for and how to avoid being sold a fake.

    1. Avoid auctions from China and Hong Kong.
    2. Avoid any auction for driver head only.
    3. Check sellers other items for sale. If they are selling only Callaway FT-i drivers avoid this seller.
    4. Ask seller to provide the serial number. If they do not respond avoid the seller. If they provide a serial number you can email Callaway customer service and ask if the serial number is legit. Also ask if the serial number has been registered already.
    5. Don't be fooled by pictures. The pictures on a bad auction will not be the driver they are sending.
    6. Avoid sellers that are new to Ebay or have really less than 100 + feedbacks selling golf equipment.
    7. Avoid any auction for a driver listed in a non golf category. They use this tactic to avoid Ebay dumping the auction.
    8. Avoid any 1 day auction with a "Buy Now".

Two ways to detect the fakes are:

    1. No serial number on the hosel.
    2. Thin spray painted finish instead of powder coated.

      Best Driver Ever...Period
    Review created: 04/10/08

OK, I have been playing golf for about 30 years now and have used practically every type of driver there is. When I was learning the game around 9 years of age, my driver was an old Wilson 4 wood that my dad had lying around in the garage. Then I went through the Spalding wood driver stage, the metal woods, and then the Big Bertha era came along and suddenly the bar was raised in terms of the drivers design, performance, and quality. I really didnt think things could get much better than the Great Big Bertha when that club came out. I used that for a few years along with a few different Titleist drivers until last year when I demo'd the FT-i at my club. HOLY COW!!! The FT-i is absolutely, positively, the greatest driver ever made (in my opinion of course). First of all, the sound this club makes is awesome. Its that high pitched CRACK sound that makes heads turn. I love it! But the best part of this club is its performance. UNBELIEVABLE! Even mis-hits and off-center hits result in decent shots because of this clubs forgiveness. I have the 9 degree Neutral model and the ONLY problem I have with this club is that I hit the ball to high with it, therefore, I end up losing yardage. But if you are a low-trajectory hitter, this club will be perfect for you. If you hit a high ball like I do, buy the Low Center of Gravity version of this FT-i. Trust me on this one. Unfortunately, the LCG FT-i wasnt available when I purchased mine, but it is available now. Even so, this club is amazing. Like I said before, even the mis-hits result in good shots. And Im not just blowing smoke here. Sure the mis-hits dont go as far as center hit balls, but they still end up in the fairway off of this clubface. The club is simply amazing. My advice to you before buying it is to demo one first to see what type of ball flight you get from it. Or, if you already know you are a high-ball hitter, go ahead and DEFINITELY purchase the LCG version. You will get an extra 10-20 yards by doing so.
