Callaway FT-5 Driver Golf Club

Most if not all of the auctions with heads only are from China or Hong Kong. The sellers had a mixture of feedback with 1 or 2 out of 10 negative due to fake driver. The sellers usually do not have a great number of feedbacks.

The selling method has changed somewhat lately with the fakes being sold by users registered in the USA but still heads only. The other problem now is there have been hundreds if not thousands of fake drivers sold to USA buyers. These buyers are now selling the fakes once they find out. Here is a list of what to look for and how to avoid being sold a fake.

1. Avoid auctions from China and Hong Kong.
2. Avoid any auction for driver head only.
3. Check sellers other items for sale. If they are selling only Callaway FT-5 drivers avoid this seller.
4. Ask seller to provide the serial number. If they do not respond avoid the seller. If they provide a serial number you can email Callaway customer service and ask if the serial number is legit. Also ask if the serial number has been registered already.
5. Don't be fooled by pictures. The pictures on a bad auction will not be the driver they are sending.
6. Avoid sellers that are new to Ebay or have really less than 100 + feedbacks selling golf equipment.
7. Avoid any auction for a driver listed in a non golf category. They use this tactic to avoid Ebay dumping the auction.
8. Avoid any 1 day auction with a "Buy Now".

Two ways to detect the fakes are:

1. No serial number on the hosel.
2. Thin spray painted finish instead of powder coated.

Unlike some of the new drivers with triangular and squared shapes, the look of FT-5 driver is very classic. From the top looking down, I could not tell the head was 460cc. It just fits my eyes. All black and sleek finish.

As for playability, it is just excellent. The sound is solid, nothing bothersome. Ball flight is on the lower side compared to other 9.5 degree drivers. Very forgiving and good distance. Most of my miss hits ended up in play. No complaints what so ever... No wonder this club made the best club in Golf Digest's equipment review two years in a row.

Make sure you get fitted with the right shaft for Callaway offers a variety of choices. I got fitted with Fujikura 360.

All in all 10 out of 10!!

I decided to invest in new driver technology and was able to find a slightly used FT-5 and win the bid at under $200. Thank you EBay! I chose this model because of the relatively classic look and feel as well as it's Golf Digest "Editor's Choice" award. This club feels powerful and it is. My only minor gripe is that the sound is something like an aluminum baseball bat; but given that my drives are going significantly longer, and somewhat straighter, I am one happy golfer. Now for a more consistent swing... ;)

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with this driver, IMHO.

THE CALLAWAY FT-5 DRIVER IS ONE OF THE LONGEST AND STRAIGHTEST DRIVERS ON THE MARKET TODAY. ALL THE NEW DRIVERS OUT THERE ARE GOOD BUT THE SHAPE AND SOUND MAKE IT STAND OUT AS ONE OF THE BEST. CALLAWAY HAS BEEN A LEADER IN FAIRWAY WOODS AND DRIVERS. YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH THE FT-5 NO MATTER WHAT YOUR HANDICAP IS.

I build golf clubs, so to build a quality driver you buy a quality head, about $60-$70, a comparable quality shaft $60-$90 and grip $5-$7. You can see that the Callaway driver at $150-$170 is a bargain. The first time I hit this driver it felt like it was in my bag forever, very short learning curve. Most of my customers complain about learning how to hit their new driver, so the Callaway FT-5 was in my experience the best driver I've ever hit!

Good price on a current line product with exact spcifications that work best for me. condition of club was well stated and head cover was included. Adailia shaft is a high quality and consistent selection for the shaft.

My husband loves the golf club. We received it in a very timely manner. I would buy from this person again.

This club has a more traditional look than most of the new technology available. I have tried most of the new drivers and none out-performed the FT-5. Penetrating ball flight and, though very forgiving, you can still shape shots to fit the hole. I didn't get significantly longer drives but I was able to max out the distance more consistently. The technology keeps changing but, for now, this is the best out there for the money.

Great driver!! This driver is designed for slower swing speeds and has a Draw tendency. Excellent!!

Everything was really good, the seller was patient with me since the sale ended over a weekend. He promply sent the club in and everything arrived in great shape.

Like any golf club it's a work in progress. Learning how to use a new club to fit our needs. I'm happy with the club and optimistic This is the club for me.

I never bought a FT5 driver from ebay. I never bought a ft5 from ebay. I never bought a Ft5 from ebay..........

I find a lot of suspicious bidding on golf clubs, and because ebay wont allow you to see who your bidding against it promotes this! Lucky for me it didn't happen with this item. Help the purchaser not the seller ebay??? I've made a decision now not to buy from power sellers because of ebays policy.

This is an awesome driver. Very light yet bangs the hell out of the ball. If you have any kind of slice problem with your driver this would be my first recommendation. Find one of these draw drivers used and give it a shot. This club all but completely ended my slice in one fell swoop. I mean within 2 buckets at the range. It also is very light but gives great feedback. I don't mean necessarily feel in the hands but a clean hit makes a distinctive "ping" and misshits just make a different noise. I have been able to tell what I did wrong just by the sound the club face makes on contact.
I'm in love with this club, and I'm not normally a Callaway guy. But you can't argue with results. It goes straight and far. Simple.

Great club! excellent buy! had a little trouble hitting it high at first, but now hate to put it back in bag after teeing off. missed only two fairways this past weekend.

I purchassed this driver for my father who was struggling with control and distance. He is 84 years old and has enjoyed the club more each time we play. The driver has helped his control, about 80% fairways now and his distance has gone from 165 yds to 175 -180 yds with the new club. Thank you

Took me a couple of days at the range to figure out the best ball position and tee height. The first 25 shots at the range were UGLY. I'm a mid to high handicapper who can hit the ball far and sometimes even straight. Used to tee off with a 3 wood and more often a 5 iron just trying to keep the ball in play. Played two rounds with the "new" driver and all I can say is WoW! I consistently hit the driver straighter (and obviously further) than my 5 iron. First round played I was one stroke over my lifetime best round. The next round played I played my best back nine ever. My playing partners were amazed....hope this review does not jinx me!

the ft 5 is a great club, i like the control and distance i get with it. i have played 3 rounds of golf with it and i love every feature of it.
