About the Manufacturer
The story of Callaway Golf begins with the company’s founder and namesake Ely Callaway, a passionate businessman and well known figure in the game of Golf. The company got its start when Mr. Callaway bought a small wedge and putter company called “Hickory Stick USA”, which later became “Callaway Hickory Stick USA” and eventually “Callaway Golf”. From the beginning the company was committed to producing quality product for golfers of all skill levels. Mr. Callaway called it “Demonstrably Superior and Pleasingly Different” (DPSD) golf clubs. Though the company has grown exponentially since it’s modest start in 1982 (when Mr.Callaway would deliver product himself from the back of his Cadillac) the commitment to innovation and quality remains. Now a publicly traded company, Callaway is one of the most visible names in golf with a product line that encompasses the full spectrum of equipment and accessories including drivers, irons, wedges, putters and balls. Callaway golf also owns Top-Flite Golf Company, Odyssey Putters, Ben Hogan and Strata Brands.

If you hate the scams and fraud on Ebay like I do please give a ''Yes'' vote to this guide at the bottom of the page. Your vote will help others to see this guide and avoid getting ripped off.

The selling method has changed somewhat lately with the fakes being sold by users registered in the USA but still heads only. The other problem now is there have been hundreds if not thousands of fake drivers sold to USA buyers. These buyers are now selling the fakes once they find out. Here is a list of what to look for and how to avoid being sold a fake.

    1. Avoid auctions from China and Hong Kong.
    2. Avoid any auction for driver head only.
    4. Avoid auctions with generic hosel insert or non standard shaft.
    3. Check sellers other items for sale. If they are selling only Diablo drivers avoid this seller.
    4. Ask seller to provide the serial number. If they do not respond avoid the seller. If they provide a serial number you can email Callaway customer service and ask if the serial number is legit. Also ask if the serial number has been registered already.
    5. Don't be fooled by pictures. The pictures on a bad auction will not be the driver they are sending.
    6. Avoid sellers that are new to Ebay or have really less than 100 + feedbacks selling golf equipment.
    7. Avoid any auction for a driver listed in a non golf category. They use this tactic to avoid Ebay dumping the auction.
    8. Avoid any 1 day auction with a "Buy Now".

A few of ways to detect the fakes are:
    1. No serial number on the hosel.
    2. Thin spray painted finish instead of powder coated.
    3. No headcover and non standard shaft are good reasons to avoid.

Just tried this out at a local demo day (10 degree neutral, stock reg flex). I must have hit at least 2 dozen balls with it. To compare and contrast I tried the new FT-iQ as well my own drivers (2008 Taylormade tour burner stock shaft) and (2007 burner - V2 shaft) (both 9.5 degree).

Although I get good results with the Taylormade drivers when I put a good swing on it, the not so good swings pays a penalty in distance. Plus there isn't a lot of roll, even with a mid trajectory ball flight.

As for the Diablo, the dispersion was minimal and the results for a good effortless swing was fantastic. It always felt like the head was there when I was. The sound off the face was pleasant and gave me feedback on off center hits. The FT-iQ (square head) gave me similar results as the Diablo but cost an extra $100. I figured I could use the $100 on something else!

Did the same comparison test with my 2008 burner 3 wood (stock shaft) to the Diablo 3 wood. Had to give the nod to the Diablo for consistency and distance. BTW the demo club looked like it had received more wear then my own club.

So what did I do? With the buy a driver and get a fairway metal for a buck coupled with the trade in value on the taylormade, I'm playing Diablos going forward.
