How to avoid the Fake Callaway Diablo Driver
Review created: 07/09/09

If you hate the scams and fraud on Ebay like I do please give a ''Yes'' vote to this guide at the bottom of the page. Your vote will help others to see this guide and avoid getting ripped off.

The selling method has changed somewhat lately with the fakes being sold by users registered in the USA but still heads only. The other problem now is there have been hundreds if not thousands of fake drivers sold to USA buyers. These buyers are now selling the fakes once they find out. Here is a list of what to look for and how to avoid being sold a fake.

1. Avoid auctions from China and Hong Kong.
2. Avoid any auction for driver head only.
4. Avoid auctions with generic hosel insert or non standard shaft.
3. Check sellers other items for sale. If they are selling only Diablo drivers avoid this seller.
4. Ask seller to provide the serial number. If they do not respond avoid the seller. If they provide a serial number you can email Callaway customer service and ask if the serial number is legit. Also ask if the serial number has been registered already.
5. Don't be fooled by pictures. The pictures on a bad auction will not be the driver they are sending.
6. Avoid sellers that are new to Ebay or have really less than 100 + feedbacks selling golf equipment.
7. Avoid any auction for a driver listed in a non golf category. They use this tactic to avoid Ebay dumping the auction.
8. Avoid any 1 day auction with a "Buy Now".

A few of ways to detect the fakes are:
1. No serial number on the hosel.
2. Thin spray painted finish instead of powder coated.
3. No headcover and non standard shaft are good reasons to avoid.

Just tried this out at a local demo day (10 degree neutral, stock reg flex). I must have hit at least 2 dozen balls with it. To compare and contrast I tried the new FT-iQ as well my own drivers (2008 Taylormade tour burner stock shaft) and (2007 burner - V2 shaft) (both 9.5 degree).

Although I get good results with the Taylormade drivers when I put a good swing on it, the not so good swings pays a penalty in distance. Plus there isn't a lot of roll, even with a mid trajectory ball flight.

As for the Diablo, the dispersion was minimal and the results for a good effortless swing was fantastic. It always felt like the head was there when I was. The sound off the face was pleasant and gave me feedback on off center hits. The FT-iQ (square head) gave me similar results as the Diablo but cost an extra $100. I figured I could use the $100 on something else!

Did the same comparison test with my 2008 burner 3 wood (stock shaft) to the Diablo 3 wood. Had to give the nod to the Diablo for consistency and distance. BTW the demo club looked like it had received more wear then my own club.

So what did I do? With the buy a driver and get a fairway metal for a buck coupled with the trade in value on the taylormade, I'm playing Diablos going forward.

I had last years Callaway FT-i square head driver and switched to this. I love the way this driver hits the ball and the roll you get is great too. Between the 2, I like the Diablo better than my more expensive FT-i! The looks of it doesn't hurt either.....very nice looking club! Definately recommend!

I recently bought one of thse drivers, and WOW! What a difference! I'm hitting longer and straighter that I ever have. I've added 30 to 50 yards to my drives, and I use the draw shape driver which has just enough face closure to help straighten out an errant shot. I've cut 5 to 10 strokes from my game already, and I've only played a few rounds with it so far. All of my golf buddies have tried it, and about half are thinking of getting one of their own. It's a real confidence builder, and I expect to improve my game greatly because of this driver.

The driver does hit farther and straighter if your swing mechanics are correct. It doesn't do a mirracle if you hack it. You'll have to go on the range and practice, practice, practice just like any other club in your bag.

Very good club, will keep you in the short grass with a good swing. The not so good swings will not be as bad. The shaft is great, a little stiffer than most stiff flex but just what i really need. Distance is not super long but average long compaired to the newer clubs, a can't miss with this one!

I have been playing golf for over 25 years, and this is the best driver that I have owned and hit yet. I have been playing with Titleist clubs for 18 years. I gained over 15 yards by just adding this club to my bag.

  BIG!!! Big Bertha Diablo

I would consider this driver to be pretty forgiving for novice golfers like myself. It have found it easier to keep my ball on the fairway...with consistant shots to about 280 yds. The Diablo added about 10 yards to my drive pretty easily and I would recommend this driver to anyone that is in need of distance w/ forgiveness.

After playing a fade for many years, this new technology has straightened my drives out and added 20 plus yards. I am very pleased with this club to the point that I am upgrading all my woods and hybrids to the new Callaway Diablo line.

After being a Taylor Made and Titleist user for many years, I switched over to a 9 Degree/18 degree, Stiff flex, Neutral Shape driver/fairway wood this year... I have never been happier with my drives and fairway wood play, those 500+ yard par 5's are no longer out of reach in two strokes, and the consistency + forgiveness allows me to gun for the green with confidence from 225+ out!

Big Bertha Diablo driver Golf Club IMHO
Review created: 10/05/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I am not a pro golfer in any way but I liked the look of the driver and went ahead and purchased one, The friends that I golf with all have Taylormade quads
and since trying my Diablo have sold theirs and are now buying Diablo's.
I am driving around 200 yds which is not a great yardage but I can drive consistantly straight so I am really glad I decided on this driver and i do not plan to change it in the future. Buy one and see. cripes i sound like a salesman now lol.
good luck
Derrick.

I have wanted to try a driver that was draw biased. The Diablo is a very good driver and easy to hit. If you tend to hit the ball left to right I would recommend this club.

  Great driver
Review created: 09/03/09

I had a G10 Ping and continued to hook the drive. Prior to that, I had always been a straight driver. No, it was not a draw club.
I went to PGA Tour Superstore and tried the pro gave me the Callaway FT-9, the the Speed Series F9 Cobra and the Diablo. Clearly, the Diablo was the hottest, and longest off the tee. I hit all three straight, but you could feel the fast response when the club hit the ball. I was able to move the ball left and right off the tee quite easiily.
After using the club for one week, I sold my 3 & 5 G5Ping woods and purchased the Diablo. I still have G5 Ping hybrids and irons which I would not give up.
Hope this helps.

Pretty club - bad shot characteristics
Review created: 11/04/09

I bought this club on a whim to replace my Cleveland Hibore XL. I got fitted at a local golf store so I knew which shaft and loft combo to look for.
The club is beautiful but the head lacks a lot of punch. Solid hits were 20-25 shorter than my old club. A number of my friends have tried it and everyone seems to think the same thing. I got lucky and unloaded it on a new golfer for what I had in it but I wouldn't recommend the Driver to anyone.
The threewood that came with it was another story entirely. I love the three wood and hit it much further than my 10 year old taylormade. In summary, buy the three wood but look elsewhere for a driver.
