Call of Duty 3 utilizes the same identical gameplay as Call of Duty 2. If you like part 2, I would definetely add this to your buy list for Christmas.

Let me break this down to categories:-

1. Graphics - 4.5 of 5 - Good eye candy game with lots of explosion everywhere. Video games players would appreciate the details put into the game.

2. Sound -4 of 5 - We all remember the loud and realistic sound from Call of DUty 2 right? Well, guess what? It is the same here with bigger explosions and more things flying around left and right.

3. Replay value 4 of 5 - After beating the single player mode, you can head on to the multiplayer mode and challenge a couple of people. Definetely a plus.

4. 1 player Campaign - 4 of 5 - Your team isn't totally smart. Same bug as part 2. There are acts where your teamates would just keep running into the mp-40 and get gunned down like sausages. Other than that, the occasional cover fire is there to help you advance. The vast majority of the campaign requires you to single handledly gun down nazis with your guns. Sometimes it feels like you goto solo. Dont expect your A.I. too help you out too much.

5. Multiplayer - 5 of 5 - The high point of this game. Get a live subscription and let the killing begin.

6. Difficulty - 4 of 5 - It is not that hard. Just take it slow and play with the same strategies you used in Call of Duty 2 and you should be able to beat this game in 10-12 hours of gameplay.

7 Overall 4 of 5 - A good game to own. A definetely a must have game for the World War video games advocate. It has gorgeous grahipcs, amazing sound as always, and the multiplayer is definetely a plus to give this one a must buy for christmas.

Call of duty 3 is even better then call of duty 2. The multiplayer is amazing. Real world war 2 battles.Awesome weapons. The cool new thing is the destructible environments so now you cant hid behind a tombstone forever eventually once enough bullets have been popped in it is useless cover so you better run. Who also would have thought they could make the graphics any better which they did and they are amazing. The single player as usual is not a really long one but where the singleplayer ends the fun on multiplayer begins. Also a new thing added is nazis trying to take your weapon and they will pop out and try to grab it so you need to use the buttons to shake them off before they take it and blast you to bits with your own weapon. For any call of duty fan this game is great so run out and purchase it or buy it on ebay do not miss out

  Great War Game

The sound was excellent and sounded like your were there. The graphics were also great. The multiplayer is what makes this game awesome though, it never gets boring. There isn't really anything new in the game compared to #2 though, I wish they could've tried to at least put in something different.

Even BETTER than Call of Duty 2
Review created: 05/02/07
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

That is a BRAVE statement, but I stand by it. Even if the graphics don't excel beyond it like they could and should, there are obvious improvements like textures and grass, which stays pressed down when you walk over it. Some clear improvements are game play, which remains tactical to an extent, but is much more action packed. The story line and dialogue is cheesy as a USA afternoon action film, it's kept to a minimum. Those diary loading screens are gone, replaced with just a tiny 3 in the bottom right corner. And the cut scenes with History channel footage are very short, and barely there. People who play for story will be very disappointed, but people who get WWII games for stories anymore are hard to find.

GRAPHICS: 8/10

They are definitely pretty. Very well lit, fantastic textures, great smoke, and the like. They could be done better, much better, but they aren't bad. There's nothing much to say about them, they're your normal next-gen fare. Great lighting, textures, character models, everything is ship-shape, but isn't at full potential.

GAMEPLAY: 9/10

Treyarch is definitely good at what they do. The battles are tense, bursts of crazy action, with tons of side games, such as driving missions, and mini-games for doing certain tasks. Setting up C4 involves you taking off the cap by pressing a face button, sticking the pin in and tightening it by spinning the right stick, and again pressing a face button to pull the pin then run. Though this is the most common button game, there are others such as moving a crane. it's not to long and not to short, and ends before you get bored. It's good stuff, but there are a few glitches. Random spasms, and I've experienced myself falling through the ground more than once.

AUDIO: 9/10

Fantastic. There are great sounds that really put you in the game. The gunshots and voices are clear and don't sound phoned it.

OVERALL: 9/10

Though there are some noticeable glitches, and difficulty leaps (it could be very easy some times and then extremely difficult) the good outweighs the bad by a ton.

This game does not shy away from call of duty 2 all that much. Almost the same game play as Call of duty 2. This was still a good game to play great Graphics. It is has a good replay Value. My only complaint is change the gameplay up more. All in all a good game to play not great tho.

A good game after Call of Duty 2

If you’ve paid any attention whatsoever to the way that most big publishers handle their franchises, the fate of the once-seminal Call of Duty franchise should come as no surprise. Yearly sequels to big series – even if that timeframe precludes any kind of real creativity going into the project – are the preferred way to get the maximum profit out of the investment. Publisher Activision passed the reins from series creator Infinity Ward to Activision-owned Treyarch for Call of Duty 3, and the developer clearly didn’t go far out of its way to improve the Call of Duty formula.

  Very fun but too easy

Call of duty 3 is a great game. the action and graphics are amazing. You also learn about WW2 weapons and see interviews with real veterans from not only the U.S. but a Polish soldier and a Canadian or British (i can't remember which right now). I have one problem, it is too easy. It didn't take long to beat and some of the levels only take five or so minutes to beat. there are only about 15 or 16 levels (somewhere in there). It is great, just too easy. Also, you can't skip the movies, you have to watch them every time you start a level. I do suggest you get.

  Worthy... but predictable.

Call of Duty... when you think of this title, you quickly remember all the reason why this game's become the success it has.
However, for the 360 version of CD3, fans were expecting a more intelligent gaming experience; yes the graphics are awesome and the game flow is very rich, but after a while of playing, one can't avoid but to have this feeling of a big straight line, where you know where it starts and where it ends before you get there. AI, while by far better than that of CD2, still fails to deliver all of its potential where there obviously is a tremendous amount of room to exploit.
Landscaping is amazing, but too bad often the scenery is just for that, for viewing only and nothing else.

I'd give it an 8 out of 10

Amazing graphics, great gameplay, and almost unlimited ways to kill your enemy. The effects are incredible and the controls easy. These and the ability to destroy just about anything you come across make this an excellent game. However, there are two problems that should be changed. First, the explosions are over the top. If a grenade were thrown into a small, wooden building, it would definately have an effect, but it wouldn't send pieces of it flying in all directions as it does in this game. Also, the characters could use some work. A Scotish soldier with a strong accent pairing up with a young member of the French resistance doesn't seem very likely. Nor does the maniacal Sargeant whose last words are to tell the strange man with the trench gun to go to h ' ' '. If Call of Duty were too borrow a bit from Brothers in Arms, I would give it a 5 stars without a question. A great game, but I'd still say to get Call of Duty 2 first.

• The Power of Next-Gen – Built from the ground-up for next-gen consoles, Call of Duty 3 brings the battle to life with advanced graphics, a new physics engine, a procedural environment and detailed ensemble animations that deliver the most cinematic war experience ever.

• Battle Actions – An all-new close-quarters battle mechanic allows players to fight hand-to-hand, improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a host of other battlefield situations that require cunning and rapid reflexes to survive.

• Branching Mission Paths – Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let players decide how to confront the enemy – flank an opponent, or hit him head-on. Each unique mission path requires special tactics, from sniping and demolition to all-out head-on clashes.

• Nowhere to Hide – Environmental physics allow players to destroy enemy soft cover hideouts, forcing foes out in the open. But be wary, opponents can eliminate your protective coveras well.

• Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles – Combined arms and team-based combat provides unprecedented depth and variety by allowing up to 24-players to battle it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with side-cars, leading to unique mobile combat roles for all-out, multiplayer mayhem. Call of Duty 3 also offers soldier classes, each with class specific abilities, and a ranking system for truly diversified squadcombat.

I AM A HUGE FAN OF REALISTIC FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS. SO, THE CALL OF DUTY SERES IS DEFIENTELY ONE OF MY FAVORITES FOR ACTION AND REALITY. THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CALL OF DUTY 3 IS AMAZING AND SUPER REALISTIC. TH GUNS ARE ALSO REALISTIC AND SO ARE THE MAPS. OVERALL THIS GAME IS JUST AS GOOD OR EVEN BETTER THAN CALL OF DUTY 2. THE GAME IS FAIRLY SHORT AND THE MUTLIPLAYER IS JUST O.K. THE RESALE VALUE ON EBAY IS ABOUT $40. SO, IF YOU BUY IT USED ON EBAY FOR $40 AND THEN RESELL IT AGAIN ON EBAY. YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH PLAYING THIS EXCELLENT GAME FOR FREE!!!

If you even remotely liked the first two Call of Duty games you will absolutely love this one. With better graphics and more features it is even more fun than the last installment. In this game you are also able to throw gernades back at enemies, something I desperately wished to be able to do in call of duty 2. Some of the weapons have been changed a little bit so don't be too surprised. Overall this game is amazing and one that you just can't pass up.

Great all round gameplay.the difficulty of the is great because it is make seem like u are exactly in a real war.You have gun shot at you if u peek out too much at corners; grenades being thrown at you and back at you.The only real disappointing thing bout the game is it is missing a coop play the single player like found in games such as Halo 2 and Gears of War. The Multiple portion of the game is ok great also. The maps are huge and supports a high number of players at once(up to 24).Overall it is amazing game with features which will keep you playing for hours and hours. Some players may dislike the difficulty of some levels,.But the players looking for a real war game, Call of duty 3 is the way to go.

Call of Duty 3 Xbox 360
Review created: 04/21/07

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Call of Duty 3 takes place in 1944 during the Normandy Breakout. After landing successfully on the beaches of France, the allied focus was on getting the Germans out of France and liberating Paris, which was under Nazi control at the time. As was the case in the last game, you're placed in the role of several different soldiers and you'll participate in campaigns for America, Britain, Canada, and Poland. Each country's campaign has a unique storyline that is supposed to get you emotionally involved with the characters, but the stories aren't very interesting; there's a soldier with a strong distaste for the French, an overbearing sergeant, and a young radio operator who has been labeled a coward. Though the stories aren't particularly engaging, fighting for four different armies works because it gives you a sense of not only how much effort it took to wrestle control of France from the Germans, but also that it wasn't just the United States that lost men and women in World War II.

Once again, the game opens with a brief training mission though it's a little shorter this time around. Here, you'll learn how to fire weapons and throw grenades, as well as how to move around. The controls are identical to Call of Duty 2, both in how they are laid out and in how they feel. You can fire your weapon with a quick pull of the right trigger, but this doesn't allow for much accuracy. For precision aiming, you'll want to pull the left trigger, which raises your gun to eye level and lets you use the weapon's sight. Here, you're vulnerable during the time it takes to raise your weapon and while you wait for the blurring effect that simulates your eyes focusing to clear up. It's a subtle effect, but it works really well and it's not overdone. You can also perform a melee attack by pressing the right analog stick. Clicking the left analog stick brings up your binoculars--an unfortunate button-mapping choice because it's far too easy to accidentally push the stick down when you're scrambling for your life. You can toss smoke grenades to create cover and frag grenades to clear large groups of Wehrmacht. Call of Duty 3 also lets you scoop up grenades thrown by the enemy and toss them back. To prevent your grenades from being returned to sender, you can "cook" a grenade by pressing and holding the right bumper, which lets the grenade get closer to detonating before you throw it. This is an important technique to master--not only because it's useful, but also because screwing it up results in a grenade exploding in your hands. Because there's no health bar in the game, you'll need to watch the screen when you're getting hit. As you get shot, the edges of the screen turn crimson and close in around you the more you get hit. Should you fall victim to a grenade or a bullet and not die, all you have to do is seek shelter to recover your health.

Call of Duty 3 was not what I was really hoping for. I was expecting an upgrade from Call of Duty 2, but was dissappointed. Call of Duty 2 is a game that you can play over and over and it doesn't get boring. I tried to play Call of Duty 3 and couldn't even make it past the first level. It is average at best. Yes the graphics were good, and the game play was good, but I was expecting more. I think a person is better of with COD 2. It's cheaper, better, and you can play it over and over. The splintscreen of COD 2 is wayyy better. Luckily I got this game when it came out for only $15 so I guess I can't complain. However, I feel that you should spend the money elsewhere or borrow it from a friend.

I like the more interactive maps and new online maps. The drawback is that the 4 pack of maps cost money. I also didnt like the lack of weapons choices on multi player online. I would buy the game only if you have xboax live otherwise rent it. There is no co op play which sucks.

graphics, game play, sounds are awesome in the game. THE PROBLEM IS that this game crashes XBOX 360 every 10 - 15 minutes. You might think that this is problem with my XBOX 360 but it is not. You can read about it here:
http://forums.xbox.com/8824386/ShowPost.aspx There is even a petition to Activision to make them fix problems with the game
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/activision/signatures.html
It is extremely annoying and I would avoid this game until ACTIVISION solves this problem.

  Call of Duty 3 - PS3 ~ Review ~ First Person Shooter

Taking place in 1944 on Normandy, Call of Duty 3 is action-packed. There are no dull moments in this game ! You play the role of several different soldiers & fight for USA, England, Canada and Poland. After a training mission, you start with a huge firefight scenario... one of the best I've ever played. Most of the time, it is best to pick off as many enemy soldiers as possible while staying close to cover... and keep plodding forward. And if you're a veteren player, you'll want to push up the difficulty level... enemies are significantly better shots & your health goes down more quickly.

The visual aspect of the game is 10 of 10 if palyed in high def !! The sound, if heard on a good sound system is 10 +++++++ ... maybe the best of ANY action game.

A DEFINITE PLAY !!!
