Californication - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2008, Multi-disc Set)

Awesome! love Hank Moody! Great plots and story lines. Hot women. Solid soundtrack. Only gets better in the second and third seasons.

Not a series that will be remembered years from now, but it is enjoyable. It is a light hearted series with plenty of sex and fun. If you're looking for a few minutes of fun and relaxation, this is a good show. If you're looking for a classic in the making.....naw

From the first 2 minutes of episode one I was hooked! I think this was their plan all along. I have enjoyed David Duchovny's work since red shoe diaries. The scene opens to the David walking up to a church and in the background your hear "You can't always get what you want" by the Stones playing. He enters the church, puts out his smoke in the Holy Water Basin and walks up the the life sized statue of Christ on the Cross. As he begins to have a conversation with God, (Asking for Help & Guidance) he is interrupted by a beautiful Nun who says, "Maybe I can Help"? She says, "How about a blow job" stunned he looks at her and says, "Come again!" Then all of a sudden, he wakes up...and he finds the beautiful woman is not a Nun but, she is under the sheets giving him a blow job. WOW! What a way to wake up! From here on out, comedy ensues and you get that David's character is a bit of a womanizer. Anyway, like I said at the beginning, I was hooked! It is a very well written show with a great deal of clever adult humor. I recommend it highly!!!
I purchased it on Ebay because I know that is the cheapest way to get anything on the web! I found someone selling it used for $15.00 and $2.00 shipping. So needless to say $17.00 beats $30.00 any day for a complete season DVD box set. So that's why I bought it!

After just one episode I was hooked. Sarcasm, cursing, nudity, violence, comical situations, drama-what more could you want from a half hour series. I absolutely love the characters especially David Duchovny as Hank Moody- his sarcasm and self loathing both make him an irrsistable character. You will laugh hysterically and cry uncontrollably throught this series. A mus thave for any adult witha raunchy sarcastic sense of humor!

This show is very good, but it is very very very sexually explicit and I wouldn't recommend this show for people who have children about. BUT, if you want to spice up your own sex life, this could be the show to watch with your sweetie! David Ducovney is fantastic and I love this show!!!

This show has a great and dry sense of humor. Hank's life is addicting. Just remember.... "it's not going to suck itself is it hank?"

Outstanding writing, excellent dialogue, refreshing sense of humor. Hank Moody (Duchovny)the writers blocked sex addict exemplifies the anti-hero; ego maniac with an inferiority complex persona. love it. Easily the best new series of 2007.

This is a great, although sexually charged series. Ducovney does a superb job in the role. It is a fun series that keeps the attention. A+++

This show is so funny you'll be hooked from the first episode. This show also has the best one liners that will make you laugh out loud! Definitely a great show!

one of the best shows ever, this was the first time i've seen it and i loved it. it arrived quickly and i watched the whole first season in one night! can't wait until season 2 comes out on dvd.

I do not get Showtime, so this is a cheap way to watch a full season from beginning to end. I found once I started watching the show, I had to view the both disks, back to back. Can't wait for season 2!!

great series for david will be liked by many that have an open mind.being a fan of the x-files it shows david has the ability to change charactors and still be very interesting in his style.

Saw an episode once online and decided to buy the season. Really funny, was worth buying it. Look forward to the next season which starts in Sept 2008 on SHOWTIME.

First & foremost I would like to say I LOVE DAVID DUCHOVNY!! Anything this man stars in, whether it be in his 9 seasons on The X Files (My main favorite), Return to Me (my second favorite). Red Shoes Diaries, and other films too numerous to mentioned--shows a talent of all time. Just watching him act in comedies, drama, even this first season of "Californication" one would not question that he is incredibly talented!! I just finished watching this series and to say it was extremely funny, sad, and very well made is just a touch on the surface! I recommend viewing this complete first season and cannot wait for the next season or other works this hunky sexy man produces and or stars in!

1st ... I'm not a huge David Duchovny fan, however, in this series (as Hank) he is not only funny as hell, but also very much a believable character. The Evan Handler character (Charlie) is also very believable and the series as a whole is sort of a dude's version of sex in the city with a stronger emphasis on family.

All in all, the only thing I was not thrilled with was the ending.... not sure where they will be going with that for season 2. Had this been a movie... perfect... in a series however, where can they go from here after ending the central plot?

I love the show! It is nice to see David Duchovny in a different kind of role and I think it is a great adult comedy!

This is such a witty, and charming adult comedy. I love David Duchovny anyways but I really enjoyed seeing him exercize his sarcastic and smart sense of humor in this. You just can't help be drawn to his charactor. He is a lovable loser and you find yourself rooting for him even when he does stupid things. It's definitely a rated R type show so this one is for adults only! I promise you'll love it though!

A must for any fan of Duchovny or the off beat cable comedies such as "curb your enthusiasm" or "weeds". The season is very easy to sit through, with twelve episodes of about 25-30 minutes each. It's really funny but also very serious at times. The directing is not very good at parts and you can tell this is a low budget production, but the writing is excellent as is the cast.
