Best Beginning C Programing Textbook

Although this text was written in 1996, many of the reviews that I checked while researching the volume regard this as the best beginning C programming book. I'm halfway through the text in my "Introduction to C" class and I have to strongly agree with the other reviewers.
The writing is very descriptive but concise. The code examples are compact and thorough but are not so big that they cannot be quickly typed into one's own C complier. Although the code examples are brief, they completely illustrate the complex concepts of a low level programming language to the novice programmer. I especially liked the author's Q&A sections that are FQAs from his own teaching experience. These allow the author to discuss topics in presented in separate sections of each chapter and expand on how they relate to each other.
The author, K. N. King, on his web site has promised an 2nd edition in 2007 but it is not published yet. I for one will be looking for the updated edition and will purchase it as a great reference text along with the 1st edition for my book shelf.
