Burnout Paradise (Playstation 3, 2008)

I have played many racing games, ranging from the Need For Speed series to previous installments of "Burnout." But Burnout Paradise for PS3 is by far my favorite racing game ever. I have yet to be so intrigued with a racing game, even after playing it for over a week. There is literally not one flaw that I've found with the game, and that's saying something. My favorite aspects of this exciting game are the intense graphics and outstanding feeling of speed that you feel when cruising well over 100 mph. Even at these high speeds, the game never has any glitches that interrupt gampeplay. Clearly, I'm a huge fan of this game. And you will be too. Get it.

Burnout Paradise is the best driving game I have ever played. I got a copy or Motorstorm with my PS3 and for a while I thought that was the best Arcade Style driving game I'd ever played. I was wrong...

Burnout Paradise's open world is unbelievable. Every detail is accounted for, the city itself seems real. The cars are beautifully rendered, and the crash animations are the best I have seen. It's amazing to think that a whole city is represented down to the smallest detail, even when it is zooming by at 200mph most of the time.

Driving dynamics are the best I've encountered, after a few hours of play you get so used to the controls, you can maneuver the cars as if they were real. The level of control is astounding.

All the challenges, and level-ups, make for a solid 30-40 hour game just to complete the single-player mode... but it's the online play that makes Burnout Paradise so great. There are tons of different race routes, and lots of other challenges (like drifting, driving against traffic, takedowns, jumps etc.) to pass the time. There is also "Showtime" mode which is total crazy mayhem where you try and create the biggest, most spectacular crash.

There is too much to talk about in Burnout Paradise. It makes other driving game seem boring, repetitive, and limited. In a sense Burnout Paradise distills what made playing GTA (Grand Theft Auto) so much fun into a purely driving game.

Do yourself a favor, order a Dual Shock 3 controller. Burnout Paradise is completely immersive once you add rumble to the mix.

this is probably the best car racing game ever! I am a long time devoted fan of need for speed and gran turismo which can get boring but this is just a great game with the intense cut sene when you crash to the entire open world in which you can choose how to finish a race not your typical follow the arrow this way type of game.

the only con is there way to much loading going on

i like that the seller bought a tracking number and shipping was fast. It arrive as stated it should arrive. I bought this game because it was cheap and it was my 1st game that i bough for my ps3.

Burnout Paradise is a great game. For one, it can be played in the free-play mode and still be fun because of all of the hidden objectives. There are hundreds of unlockables and hundreds of challenges. This game is also compatible with most steering wheels. I strongly recommend this game.

This is really a great update to the Burnout series. The free roaming around Paradise City is a welcome change. Support from Criterion is unbelievable with free update after free update. Crashes are still capable of invoking that "Owwww" from everyone playing or watching. And the PS3 graphics are amazing.
The only thing keeping it from getting an Excellent rating is the odd color hues that were intentionally put in the game. Things often look greenish and were done that way by the developer for an artistic flair. I don't particularly like it.

Still playing this game more than any other. Turns out most of the greenish I mentioned above was the TV (which was calibrated out). The new bikes pack alone is worth the price of the game. The game rocks online too!

I'm a long time fan of the burnout series, and I've had my eye on this latest installment of the game for quite a while. Bottom line is, if you liked the other games games, you'll feel right at home with this one. It's a great looking game, and as you'd expect from a burnout game, there's still that amazing sense of speed no matter what car or truck you're driving. The races themselves will take you a little time to adjust to. This time around, the team at EA has placed you in an open city in which all of your races take place. There are no more transparent yellow boundaries to guide you thorough the race, but a gps-like compass with a nav point that you can choose to follow or not. Lots of room for shortcuts this way, but definitely a little disorienting at first. There are a ton of races from what I can tell (though I've only had the game a few days now), so it will keep you busy for a while.
Perhaps the biggest disappointment for me was the exclusion of the crash mode that we knew and loved from the last two burnout games. There's a new mode called showtime where you wreck your car and then steer your bouncing wreck to try and damage the traffic around you and sustain a combo for as long as you can. But no more launching your car off of ridiculous ramps and sitting back to watch the ensuing chaos. This new mode just doesn't do it for me, and it got old pretty quickly.And they got rid of the crashbreaker, the one real contrubution burnout revenge made to the series.
Overall, the game is fun, fundamentally still a burnout game, and it looks great on the ps3. If you get a chance you might download the demo from the PS store, but I really don't think the demo does the game justice, as its too limiting and you don't get a feel for the scope of paradise city from the three or so races they include and the road blocks everywhere that cut off the rest of the city in the demo.

I'm going to make this review short and sweet for this game, because I could go all day on how fun this game is.

One of the better burnouts, but with a new twist. Huge environment, can be very rewarding if you can get over the fact that there are no checkpoints. Apparaantly lots of downloadable content on the way, which is a huge plus. Extremely fun, definite pick-up for any person who likes racing games or games in general.

This is a great game and I love playing it. Tons of high speed action! I had downloaded the demo version and fell in love with it right away. Being that it was still regular price in the stores, I thought I would try to find it on ebay and buy it for myself as a "father's day present" :)

This game is the best racing game by far for the PS3. The graphics are eye popping real, especially when displayed in full HD. The controls are spot on and similar to earlier Burnout titles with a true sense of speed....many times, it's just too fast!!! You will not regret the purchase of this game. It's a triple A title that's worth the price, especially if you can get it at a bargain here on Ebay like I did. You will come to find that this game has everything a racer or even a non-racer fan would like. If you love playing a game that never gets old, then this game is for you. It will have your heart pounding as you put the pedal to the metal! Go out and buy it already....you will not be sorry!!!

If you like racing and smashing things, this is the game for you! Lot's of action and huge level!!!!

I bought the game originally to play with a friend online since theres is up to an 8-player co-op mode. It was great for a while but we quickly beat all of the 'challenges' they had in the game and things began to get dull. The downloadable content for the game has some nice additions. The only thing i can really say that i acutally DON'T like about the game is the redundancy but, this is a racing game so it comes with the territory... all in all im still depressed that they took crash mode out since Burnout 3, but i really do enjoy the game and wold recommend it to anyone racing game fan.

Burnout Paradise is a game definitely worth the little amount of money it cost. For around $20 you get plenty of top-notch racing action. The online play is also very fun and can last you a long time. There is also a free bike add-on (if you have PSN) that will offer a few more hours of excting gameplay.

So if you like Burnout- buy.

If you like racing games- buy.

If you are interested in trying out a racing game (like I was) - buy.

Love the free ride style of gameplay. Full enjoyable city and fantastic soundtrack. I'm not really fond of closed circuit racing so this one has everything I look for on a car simulator game including motion tracking support for the steering wheel.

For the price, this is a must have for anyone new to the PS3 platform. Get the free update online (with the PS3) to really open this game up!

Impressive range of primary and secondary events, which added to the 75 cars the game offers a wide variety of choices available that combined with the online mode become the life of the game almost infinite. The graphics are very well developed, from modeling and textures to lighting and physics, everything was done as to impress the players. The soundtrack suited the frenetic pace of the game, and the song Paradise City, the Guns'n'Roses fits perfectly as the theme song. The gameplay is easy and complete, and the online mode, and is accessed almost instantly, is an excellent option.

I have played many racing games from need for speed, to Gran turismo, Midnight Club, and I have to say that burnout is buy far my most favorite series. The online play is just as good as the offline play and it only gets better!

I had always been a fan of the Burnout Series, and then I heard about this game and how it was exclusive to the PS3. Being new to the PS3 and this being my first game, I have to say what my title says, INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

Graphics are out of this world. Driving around the city and being able to start some kind of race at every traffic light is just great. In addition to driving cars and SUVs, you get to hug the road on motorcycles as well.

I have only beat the game about 4% so far. So there is still much more for to learn about. But being able to drive through an auto repair shop when you are at damage critical and be restored to your former glory is very handy to say the least. You can also drive through a gas station and your boost is instantly refilled.

If you have the PS3 and you are a Burnout fan, then this game is a MUST HAVE. Even if you are not a Burnout fan, this is a game anyone can enjoy just for the fact that you can go wherever you want in whatever vehicle you have and even be able to customize it (though customizing is limited).

I purchased this game, never having played any other Burnout titles before, or not really being very much into racing games. I must say this one is great. With so many different cars to unlock, and various race modes from flat out speed, to almost demolition derby, this game provides many hours of play.

The graphics are beautiful, and the city-scape is extremely detailed. As a "road geek," I appreciate the effort that went into making the streets, highways, intersections, and interchanges as realistic as they have done. There are also many "puzzles" such as smashing billboards and locating gates, as well as numerous hidden "bonus" areas to explore.

The online mode is decent as well. You can crash into your friends and talk trash while you're doing it.

Initially, I was not sure if I would enjoy this because I'd never really been into driving games before. After having played it, I can say that I have absolutely no regrets for picking this one up.
