First of all, I love this game, I love Rockstar, and I love open world games. However, I do not think it is appropriate for children, or even teens that act out.
The game lets you assume the life of Jimmy Hopkins, a kid who has had some tough knocks in life, and now is getting dropped of at a boarding school so his mom can run around with Jimmy's new step-dad.
You begin the game at the gates of Bullworth Academy, and the game just says go to the principals office. From this moment out you create the game. If you so choose, you can just hang out in the quad for awhile and talk to people, or hit them, or jump in fountains, or eat apples off of the ground, the choice is yours.
Of course, if you skip class, or pick on girls, or hit boys the prefects will be after you, and as the game progresses the cops might be called in as well. I was shocked the first time I bumped into a lady in the Vale and the cops grabbed me, this game is serious about crime and punishment. Which is a good thing in my opinion.
The missions are a blast, the cut scenes laugh out loud funny, and the voice acting well above par. As Jimmy you will have to do everything from bike races, to beat downs, panty raids to fetching lipstick for Cook, and of course, lots and lots of taking down the kid powers that be.
Most of the game revolves around Jimmy taking on the cliques at the school and becoming their boss. Nerds become your first loyal friends, followed by bullies and preps, greasers, and jocks.
Of course Jimmy is still expected to go to school while trying to become king of the heap at Bullworth. Classes are fun mini games, from pushing buttons as called for, or word scrambles or even a game of dodgeball. Each class you pass gives you a benefit, english improves taunting, while chemistry grants you more weapons to make, etc. Once Jimmy passes all five levels of a class he is no longer required to attend. Of course Jimmy can try to skip class, but if a prefect catches him he is sent right to school.

To wrap up, this game is great. I could not be happier with it, and I am usually pretty hard on games. This game gets my 5/5 seal.

5/5
+ Open world gameplay
+ High replay value
+ Great side quests and mini games
+ Just plain fun to play
+ Laugh out loud funny

- No skate board tricks
- Lock on system sometimes off

the shmoopie's tip: To run press and hold x, of course you tire out and need to walk after a while, to avoid this tap x repeatedly, and you will sprint and never tire. This also works on bikes and skate boards.

Bully - clean(er) GTA style fun!

Really fun game by the makers of Grand Theft Auto series! All the collectibles, unlockables, missions, and sides you'd expect from Rockstar with alot less guilt. Great story line to boot - be glad your parents didn't sent you to Bullworth Academy!!

The best game on PS2! Bully I have to say was the best game ever to come out for ps2. The game is about a Boy named Jimmy Hopkins who has to go to the boarding school of Bullworth Academy in the city of Bullworth.Throughout the game he gets into some of the wrong crowds and eventually causes all the gangs in the school to fight. The game has so many great features that I can't even say there is a problem with it. It has great graphics/best storyline ever/and great gameplay.Really this game has a lot of freedom you can do almost anything. It's like a "Teen Grand Theft Auto" because you can do what ever you want.Such as; beat the crap out of all the students that attend the school: The Jocks,Preps,Nerds, and The Regulars and you get weapons like fire crackers. The content of the game itself probably wouldn't fit young audiences, the game is more teen-based rather than Adult or Child based but definitly great for teens. Anyway, You also get to use go-carts and bikes that can be earned by going to your classes and winning races. Bully has a great weather detail that I thought was cool. The days always changed. One day its sunny then it could be cloudy and during winter in the game it snowed. Truely the best game, I liked it so much I played and beat the game 5x it was that fun. 5 out of 5 BEST PS2 GAME EVER!!!

Another fun title from rockstar games.

First off this might be another gta clone but in fact it finds it own spot in the game world. The bully game plays verry well even if you forget to follow the missions. The missions for the most part are not bad at all to do , just add's something to the game play. The other fun part is just being a kid and going around and pick on those you see picking on other students . You can also pick on students, and other stuff just watch out for the teachers roaming the hallways.
If your looking for a gta type game, enjoy doing the missions as well following however you wanna do things then bully is for you . This game offers alot to the game player and is a worth getting game to add to your ps2 games collection.

HELLO
I BOUGHT THIS GAME FOR MY HUSBAND OF 35 AND HE JUST LOVES IT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAMES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. I GOT THIS GAME FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE, AND RECEIVED THE GAME VERY FAST. I WOULD RECOMMEND BUYING FROM EBAY BEFORE RUNNING OUT AND PAY THE HIGH PRICE IN THE STORES.

Not the best but solid game

Overview - Bully by rockstar games is a game about a kid who gets sent to the worst prep school for bad seeds for a whole year. Basically if you played any other game by rockstar games like grand thefto auto or warriors you know how the gameplay is like. By no means is Bully a dumdowned version but a good story lined game that takes you down memory lane if you were a bully or have been bullied.

Gameplay- Lots of mini games and side quests to keep you busy. Also main story line and classes are pretty cool too. Like other rockstar games, The school in bully seems alive, and there are many things to do. Fighting is fun too, but very easy unless youre ganged by jocks.

Control- control is simple, sometimes annoying when you want to do action. For example, since at times you want to put a 'kickme' sign on a prefect and you push him instead, it brings a world of pain. Otherwise, the camera and control of your weaps and other things are fine.

Graphics- I have nothing to complain about here. Physics are fine, motions are smooth for ps2 graphics. Sometimes it lags, but doesn't bother me.

Sound and music- the sound and music fits the situation youre in, but not much variety in music. Otherwise, its ok, not annoying but not very original either.
As for sound, fits fine too, no annoying sounds.

Replay value- Depends on what u did the first time through. If you completed the game 100%, then replay is no use.

Overall, Bully is a solid game that brings gta style gameplay and graphics to a new world. However, theres nothing real new that awes me, but its a solid game and worth a try.

Bully - deeper than your typical Rockstar game
Review created: 12/01/06

This game will grow on you and gets better and better the more you play it! It isn't your regular mindless game; if you aren't mentally sharp, you won't be able to pass it! Rockstar has taken a great concept and made an excellent game. You are a short tough guy that spends his time between going to class, dodging bullies, and hitting on girls. The REAL game happens when you get off campus. It is a whole new world that opens up and it really gets to be a ton of fun.

The part that I really respect about this game is that it really challenges your mind in a way that I have not expected from Rockstar. For example, when you go to English class, you they will give you 6 letters that are scrambled, and in 3 minutes you have to think of as many words as possible out of those letters! Some of them can have as many as 40 or 50 potential words and you have to at least be able to come up with 50%! And it's not like a typical game where you can just come right back and try it, you won't be able to try it again for a few real life hours!

Another challenge is to push the exact button on the control pad at the exact second. They have taken it a step further because they have full animation playing in the background so distract you, with your teacher talking to you and trying to throw you off. Each time it uses more and more buttons in a totally random fashion.

The story line is also fun with so many mini quests it will keep you playing and entertained for hours.

The one reason that it is not a 5 in my book is the load time. It seems to take forever to load up the game initially, and then every time he goes to a new scene, it takes forever to load. The graphics are good, but not for the level of load time. It loses a bit of the momentum every time. Beyond that, once you get the hang of the controls and then get off the campus, be ready to become further addicted!

In regards to the violence for kids, the only good thing is that no one ever actually dies, and there isn't any blood. Just kids laying on the ground like they were kicked in the stomach.

If you learned something new here, take a second to review it. Thanks and have fun!

  Solid game

Very good game, even for a slightly out-dated PS2 game. I enjoyed the story lines and the open style of play. Like another reviewer said it is similar to GTA but very toned down. The combat controls are simple but still allow for effective and entertaining variety. The classroom puzzles were fun.I consider myself a more mature player (30yo with 2 kids) so the only consideration I should note is that the language in the game forced me to play when my 3 year old was not around or asleep, but it is well worth the minor accomidation for me.

  YAYYY!

I really like the context to the game. Bully or Be Bullied.
I bought the game because I like games with realistic game characters like the sims, tony hawk, grand theft auto, so, when i saw you can beat up geeks and preps then I was stoked. I dont know if I like being a red head, but, I guess they do get beat on the most, so, makes sense.
I am getting hooked on the missions I have to accomplish they aren't too complicated and when they are a little frustrating the game makes up for it in humor. It is really incredible the game designers really did a lot of work to create a whole bully world to conquer.
This game is extremely entertaining and worth it because even if you sat there for a week straight you still wouldn't get through it because there are so many aspects to the game and tons of secrets.
This game kicks butt.

This game is pretty good, for a few hours. It is pretty dull all in all. The game play is good but it gets annoying how everyone wants to fight you all the time. Would be better if you selected your battles like one does in Grand Theft. Worth $10 but nothing more.

Bully matches up to past Rockstar Games
Review created: 06/02/07

Bully is an intuitive and fun game. I love being able to beat up a couple bullies then run for the nearest trash so the Prefects won't catch me and send me to the principal's office. Overall, it has a long storyline with many optional missions. There are many twists and turns in the plot that you would never expect. I like how you have a curfew--it makes it more realistic. With the curfew it makes it hard to be able to go out into the outer lands away from the school and get more than a couple missions done in a single day. However, the imaginative and creative mini-games make up for this, for as you pass your classes you learn new skills and other things.

  Rockstar does it again!
Review created: 04/10/07

Bully was an amazing game, I was expecting a dumbed-down youthful GTA clone (Grand Theft Bike if you will) but what I got was a whole new world with its own style, humor, characters, and plot. Jimmy Hopkins is now my 2nd favorite Rockstar character (after Carl Johnson of GTA:SA). The humor was excellent, gameplay was challenging, but not frustrating, graphics were top-notch for the PS2 (would love to see it on the 360!) and the variety of missions was pretty cool. The only minuses I have are the shortness (compared to GTA games, not other titles) and the music (I was hoping for licensed music from popular artists, the kind of stuff a teenaged hoodlum would listen to.) But a definate buy for action fans, and a MUST for GTA/ Rockstar fans

I decided to search e-bay for this playstation game because I was sure I could find this game for less than our local department store's price. I was right, but thinking I would have to settle for a used product, I was suprised to find I could purchase new in the original wrapper something that cost close to $20.00 more at the store. Both my son and I were very pleased.
