I was looking for a book that would help me design and build a 10x12 or so storage shed with a gambrel roof. This book has detail on several shed styles and alot of informative building tips from lay out to roofing, including gambrel roofs. I like their idea on building a template or jig for constructing the roof trusses.

This was the first book I bought when I started building sheds. I took many ideas for my own buildings from this book, and I am very glad I found it when I did. Its comprehensive, helping you plan and providing numerous pictures for inspiration for you own project.

This book features 4 different styles of buildings, from a smaller lean-to shed to a much larger gambrel barn. The suggestions throughout as to the quality of materials to use, the construction techniques and methods for putting the project as a whole together are fantastic.

It covers virtually every obstacle you may encounter when deciding to build your own shed, starting with a great overview of available materials, and then talking about the different techniques you can use for wall-framing, roof framing, and accessorizing your shed. They mock build 4 sheds in this book, but many of the techniques are transferable to your own design.

The pictures are great, and I believe the book is basic enough (although there are a few advanced topics) for a skilled Do-It-Yourself homeowner to apply these procedures to their own project, and have it come out great. I highly reccomend this book.

This book should be read by anyone contemplating an outdoor shed. It is very thorough, in an easy-to-read style and takes you by the hand from foundation to roof. The author also has useful pro tips on many pages that are things you might not be aware of during construction. I found it a easy to read, extremely helpful, knowledgeable book that you can use to build a shed from the included ideas or one of your own style.

I would recommend this book to anybody planning to build a shed, for any purpose. Its very easy to understand. The writer has used specific sheds as examples, so a person could jot down their purpose of shed and find an appropriate shed and go from there.
