Well written. Lots of black 'n' white photos, with black and white charts and graphs. No color photos--bummer. Make no mistake, this book is a wonderful source of information on Pontiac engines, although even the bore and stroke chart forgets the 301 and the 265. Well, why not? Performance enthusiasts aren't likely to care about the low-deck versions of the Pontiac engine. Many people don't remember that Pontiac built a 265!
This book covers:
Building Your Short-Block,
Camshaft Selection
Carburetors,
Intake manifolds,
Heads,
Porting Pontiac D-port heads,
Exhaust systems,
Ignition systems,
Cooling system,
Street/Strip Pontiac engine packages,
and five appendices: Internet information sources, New or unique Pontiac parts, Specialized coatings, Source guide, and "Cooling tip".
There are some downsides to this book: There is NO index, and the book is, unhappily, printed in Communist China. SA Design must be making a killing on this thing: No color, slave labor for the actual production, yet they still manage to ask a premium price for it--but that price is not printed anywhere on the book itself. Go figure. SA Design is clearly not your friend. Be sure to buy it if you're interested in Pontiacs, but buy it at a discount price!
