Capgun Coup is an apt name for a band that brandishes a harmless weapon but makes a big noise anyway. Their naïve take on folk-punk betrays a Beat Happening and Elephant 6 influence, with tunefully noisy underpinnings. Minimalist finger-picked electric guitar and hushed, artless vocals mesh with the occasional spoken word part or sample, hinting at the experimental heart of the project.
