As close as a small village.

"BROTHERS AND SISTERS", beside having one of my favorite female leads, Sally Field, also has diversity. Oppositional positions held within a very close, involved family that include straight and gay love interests; faithful and unfaithful spouses, and lovers; adult conflicts between parent and adult children; jealousy and support between family members; different addictions face some family members; and a difference in extreme political perspectives, are only a few of the issues and themes of the show. The family is like a small village, where everyone knows or learns what is happening to everyone else.
When I saw 2 of the 1st 5 shows, I found so much variety overwhelming and the family unbelievable, and I wondered what other character type will appear next. Then I began to watch regularly and began to really like the family members. It is obviously produced for television audiences. It is not the quality of "DEADWOOD", but it was a nice escape, and the female actresses - mother and 2 daughters, were very believeable. Sally Field's brother also was part of the family and the family business, and he was believable.
I decided to buy season one because I missed a few of the first 5 or 6 episodes. I also got it at a very good price on ebay.
