Brother SE-350 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Wanting to purchase an embroidery machine but not truly certain as to how I would add the effects of the machine into my daily sewing routine, I was advised to purchase a machine of lesser value. Made sense to me. This Brother SE-350 has been absolutely perfect. In fact, when you add the vikant box with a usb-serial cable you are able to bring your art or downloaded artwork from the internet or your computer to this amazing embroidery machine. These two items run 130.00. You become your own limitation.

What is nice about this machine is that you place your fabrics into your hoop, and once the design has been chosen, the machine will tell you what color thread to put in and then its basically - stand back and let the machine do its work. You can actually sew on another machine while this machine does design work to other pieces.

Without the appropriate programs, perhaps one would feel this machine is too small for them, but there are many programs out there such as SewIconizer which will allow you to actually see the embroidery art on your computer, no matter what format it is in. SewWhat will allow you to convert any embroidery art to the .PES format. Combined, these two are under 100.00. The same company has SewArt which is 75.00 in comparison to the 750.00 art program found specific to this machine.

This Seller provided me with enough gadgets to go with this system to arm a small citidel and offers a superb warranty or return if you are not satisfied.

Having this system now a little better than a month and I have found free art files all over the internet, fancied up sheets with pillowcases, added new art to my just finished quilt tops, changed old dresses into something new and even added a few things to my neices dresses. In fact, after walking my 8 year old neice through the steps of putting the thread into the self threader, she was able to read what color thread to put in next and had the patience to stand there watching it sew while I was off doing other things.

Be certain to check out youtube and other online video places to look at embroidery machine video's. All of them are basically the same with the same features, the only difference will be in the size of the hoop and the size you are able to embroider. This is a most excellent machine for a beginner or even medium seamstress, especially if you understand the art of re-hooping or just like window panes moving your hoop to work with art that has been split so that you can create a much larger piece of work.

Lastly, you will also want to learn about stablizer's that go beneath your fabric whether knit, cotton, or satin so that your fabric does not move or shift while your machine is doing its job.

I bought this machine as a birthday present to myself - I was interested in the embroidery capabilities and didn't want to spend the huge amount of money local stores wanted for an embroidery machine. I was so pleased with the SE-350 - that I purchased a second SE-350 so that I can sew on one machine while I embroider on the other. The SE-350 is easy to use and does everything I need it to do. With the purchase of additional software to download designs and monogram I can't imagine needing anything else! I highly recommend this machine for anyone thinking about investing in a machine with the capability to embroider.

So far this machine is very easy to use. I am a sewing instructor, and I have been using a Brother machine everyday for the past 3yrs without any problems. So far, this machine has been exceeding my expectations. It came with both the manual and a quick start manual for us that think "read" is a four-letter word, as well all accessories to change feet, etc. I only have two remarks on making a Brother machine better... the default needle setting should be in the center instead of the left side...and a better accessory case.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she was so excited to get it! It was more than she had even dreamed of and the idea of being capable of downloading pictures from the internet just added to the excitement. The machine arrived safe and sound and even quicker than I had expected.

I received my new machine (I paid about $289) about 3 days before Christmas. It is SO easy to use, I was able to take it out of the box, program in my best friends name, and embroider an apron for her that day. It's exactly the reason I chose this model and it did not disappoint me!
I have not done other sewing with it, but it is so easy thus far, I'm sure it will be just as great!

I paid for the sewing machine and never received it and had to fight for all the money to be returned.

I love my Brother Embroidery /sewing machine, I have always wanted an embroidery machine so decide to get this one.. I use it almost daily.. got lots of ideas to use it for. Personal, presents, etc. The only problem I have is it don't use a large hoop,, well I can use it, but the machine isn't programed for it, so some patterns are to large,, but there are lots of meduim ones to use. Or if I get good enough I can match them up..ha!

Love how easy to learn the embroidery unit. The touch screen makes sewing and embroidery a snap. The stitches are great and being able to down load embroidery patterns and sew them just using a card makes this machine endless. So far no "dislike" about this machine.

I love the machine. It does everything it's supposed to do. What i don't like, and didn't know at the time, is, the extra embroidery cards are so expensive.
The main reason i bought the machine, was for the embroidery.

It's a great, easy to work sewing machine that does just enough extras without overwhelming me with all the bells and whistles. I love that it does both regular sewing and embroidery. The price is great.

I am new to sewing. My first stich ever was done on this new machine. It took me a while to figure out bobbin winding and threading but the book is VERY helpful and once you get it, it is extremely easy. My mother-in-law who is vetran seamstress is very impressed as well. I reccomend for the money. I can not wait to start embroidery!

I have not gotten to do alot on my machine yet but the little bit I did get ecperience on it has been good. I have never had an embroidery machine before to compare it to. I have been looking at othe memory cards for it and find them to be a little pricey but I suppose thats normal with all of the machines.

I did alot of research before buying this machine.
I found that this machine is affordable,light weight,easy to read instructions And easy to operate. I've sewn a few things and I Love the fact it threads itself and the touch programming is awesome!I am happy with my choice.The accessories Like extra programs and embroidery threads are a little pricey.

I decided after much research to purchase this sewing machine/embroidery machine combo. The Brother brand I liked because I purchased a Brother Serger and have been very happy with its performance, so there was no surprise that this machine was built well. This machine has features all that a great sewing machine has with a bonus of being able to embroidery with it as well.

When sewing, you have to be careful of the correct thread weight and correct needle be used otherwise you will get a big ball of thread on the back side of your work. Once you have figured out that, then you have overcome one of the biggest obstacles. Also, be sure to use EMBROIDERY THREAD when doing the embroidery stitches, otherwise coverage of the design is affected.

I was a little disappointed with the embroidery stitches included as not as many decorative basic stitches were offered as on the regular Brother Sewing Machine, however, with a download, you can just about get any 4in x 4in design or running design that your heart desires.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase and will continue to learn how to use it. The Manual is all-inclusive and a big help with almost everything and the Brother hotline support has been very helpful too.

I bought the Brother SE-350 Sewing/Embroidery machine about three weeks ago. I have basic sewing experience so I took the time to read the owner's manual from front to back. This machine is absolutely amazing. I probably could have gotten started without using the manual because the machine is so user friendly. I've already made two blouses and will be starting my first ever messenger bag project this week. I can't wait to create my first embroidery piece. I have never done embroidery, but something tells me I won't be disappointed with this feature either. I highly recommend the Brother SE-350.

I loved the fact that my product shipped and was delivered on time. Everything was in excellent condition. My product came with everything it was supposed to. Beginner at sewing--this machine seems to have it all. Auto theader, cutter, used the same day that it was received--purchased this model for the embroidery feature. So far love this machine--looking forward to using it alot.

I love this machine! It's so much fun. I will definetely use it a lot. I already have tons of ideas for xmas gifts. I've had a lot of trouble with the very fine fonts. Even the "right" needle and backing... still produces some problems with skipped stitches and difficulty in acheiving correct thread tension. All larger fonts and designs work great with very little effort. I made a hooded baby towel for my neighbor with her baby girl's name and she thought i had it done professionally. She was surprised. I also did my son's uniform monograms for private school and saved enough money to pay for the machine. It was well worth the money. A co-worker bought the same machine a week later, because she was so impressed with the value and quality. Another friend payed over $2,500 for an embroidery machine a few years ago and was surprised to hear how little I payed for mine. All in all.. I would highly recommend this machine.

We LOVE it! Never had a better sewing machine... this is great for a budget-minded consumer! It's the right price, and works like we spent way more money!

This machine is simply easy to use and was in excellent ("brand-new like") condition when it was shipped.
I have already completed two projects with no problems. It comes with a CD to help faciliate learning nuances of the machine.
Although I have not tired embroidery features yet, I feel confident it will be another item that will be worry-free and work as advertised.
I bought this machine refurbished and for the price, it was a real bargain and much better than other machines you see on the market.

I bought this for my wife for a gift and she loves it. She sews stuff all the freakin time. She made me a pair of sock and matching underwear. I think they are pretty comfy. But this machine does everything she wants! She very happy about it.
