Brother P-touch® PT-80 Label Printer

I have an older P-touch that is quite large and on a whim I picked this smaller label maker up for its tiny size. I really like it. The keyboard is easy to use. I can hold it in my two hands and type madly creating labels very quickly. The symbols and number keys are very easy to switch into and out of. I also really like that it is small enough to sit under my monitor next to my digital camera. I bought this labeler to keep my business organized. The main reason I feel the typical label maker never gets used is that it is too cumbersome to get it out, set it up and make the labels. With this little labeler you don't have any excuse to hand write any labels at all!

This label printer is great. Its small, portable and easy to use. Also, it was at a terrific price. I bought it to replace an old label printer that was very hard to use and heavy.

I was apprehensive, at first, about it being plastic. I guess I think metal stuff is sturdier, which is old school, like me. But it's easy to use and even remembers to turn itself off when I forget to, which is perfect for a home with kids. Labels are easy to read and stick. Like your printers, it's the refills that hurt your pocketbook. But I love this thing!!!

Have always wanted a printer and this opportunity presented itself to own one at a reasonable cost. It is as I thought it would be. The loading process was easy to follow and the labels easy to prepare. This will be a great help in preparing boxes for storage.

I used this product in my last job. When I retired and decided to start my own business I wanted the same product for my home based business.

I have an earlier model and love it - however, I bought this one to donate to a charity basket of office supplies to be part of a silent auction at a school for kids with Autism. Silent auction was held last week with many items. The Brother P-Touch was definitely the "carrot" in that basket.

Have always wanted label maker. They were a little pricie. So when I saw it on really good sell I decide to purchase. It is a little hard at first to use but figured it out quick.

Thought I was getting an amazing "ebay deal of the day"...until I went into a local Office Max and found the exact same model for %50 less than what I paid. What's worse? Finding out that the replacement tapes actually cost more than the machine! Should have done my homework first...hopefully this will save you from making the same mistake.

This unit is excellent for what it is designed to do. It is a basic label maker, that allows changing tape cartridges for different color tapes. It has a built in graphics library, and basic font functions. Labels can be one or two lines. It will not allow mixing functions, but it wasn't designed to do so. It is best described as a basic and simple label maker, that makes clear, legible labels. A good value for the price.

i love it, lotsa of little neat things u can do.also like the special icons, like hearts, flowers, clover, stars, great product so glad i bought it!

Great little labeler for home or office use. My kids also had to label lots of items for school, so this was great. I gave one to their teacher so she could label things in the classroom also.
Very easy to use and the print options are very versatile, so you can be as creative as you like.

ordered this item for my office files, gerat item, works wonderfully and fast, easy to assemble, takes onlly 4 AA batteries, rather than an older model of this which takes 6 AAA Batteries, so this is a $$$ saver in the long run. Funky colorful buttons, the most useful product in my office!

This label printer is much like my old one, from a different company, except that it has a qwerty keyboard. That is the biggest reason to buy this product over another model.

first would be the price and free shipping. I have been pricing them for some time. I have bought several items from daily deal and have never been disappointed.

This is my personal experience with a Brother Labeler P-touch model PT-80.

For several years I have owned a model PT-65 and like the PT-80 it is also made in China. The PT-65 has been very useful for the usual household needs of my family, but when my 6 year old girl dropped it and cracked the case I decided to step-up to a newer model. I purchased the PT-80 at a very reasonable price( $14), been aware that Brother makes it’s profits on the sale of the tape and not on the machine.

My first experience was with trying to use a set of high quality rechargeable batteries, after the initial set-up I was able to print 2 labels, then the machine stopped in the middle of the 3rd label.
Since the back of the PT-80 states “4 AAA Alkaline Batteries” I replaced the rechargeable batteries with Alkaline batteries, much to my surprise the PT-80 keep it’s settings and the text in memory during the battery exchange.

I tried to print some new labels using additional styles and settings. I was able to print one label before the low battery indicator came on screen and then the PT-80 turned itself off.
I was able to turn it on again and again, but it will only print part of the label every time. After reading reviews posted by other users, this is not be a defective PT-80, but a design problem.

My old PT-65 uses 6 batteries and not 4 like the PT-80, and the batteries are the larger AA size and not he smaller AAA used by the PT-80.
My recommendation is to avoid the PT-80, returning it for an exchange will not be practical due to shipping charges.
Yesterday I was able to buy a Refurbished PT-65, like my old one, for less than 10 bucks and it works very well.
