Really Great CD from a Troubled Artist
Review created: 01/26/08

This is definitely a great buy. "Britney" includes her career-defining hit "I'm a Slave 4 U". The weakest song on the album is track 6, "Anticipating", but the rest of the tracks are very strong, and could all stand well as singles. This was a transition from being not so innocent to being not a girl, not yet a woman. And, she transitioned very well. 4/5 stars.

 Not The Best
Review created: 06/10/06

This album has some decent music on it. One or two tracks were good. I was extremely happy with the price and shipping time for that reason. It represents the last Britney Spears album that was relatively enjoyable. After this one, "In The Zone" was absolute junk. If you want to get the better side of her career, her first three albums..."Hit Me Baby One More Time"..."Oops!...I Did It Again" and "Britney" are what you should be looking at.

 Classic Pop album
Review created: 11/15/05

"BRITNEY" has a more grown up sound to "OOPS!" with a hard catchy dancey edge!. singles Spilled out of this album like there was no tomorrow!.. they where - "Im A Slave 4 U","Overprotected","Boys remix" "Anticpating" (france only), "IM Not a Girl", "I love ROCK N ROLL". CRIKEY.. see what i mean... loads of singles! plus fantastic tunes such as "Cinderella" and the brilliant ballad - "Not A Girl (Not Yet A Woman)" Songs with single status have to be "Anticipating", a fun summer tune to get you Grooving, plus the Highly catchy "Bombastic Love".
If you seen the Movie CrossRoads then this album will bring back all the memorys of the great movie with "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" on here too!.

Pros:
Let's see... Cinderella, Anticipating, Let Me Be, I'm Not A Girl blah blah blah...

Cons:
Before The Goodbye ain't on here. Oh, and I Love Rock'N'Roll sucks to high heaven.

I know that this is a bizarre, shocking revelation I'm about to bring out here, and thus this may mean the end of humanity (or my credibility, anyway) as we know it, but: Britney Spears, given the constant decrying she receives, seems quite harmless when you think about it. I know this is hard for some of you to digest and her making music you don't like is on par with her having brutally murdered a cute, harmless puppy stranded in a blizzard, but I'm sure you'll live through the shock. That doesn't mean that she's still entirely pleasant to listen to vocally (unless you get your jollies off..

Britney, or How to Release a Pop Album in 7 Easy Steps
Review created: 11/18/01
by: xiphoid -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Some great catchy pop tunes...what else do you want?

Cons:
The single is a major deterrent...

Well, you have to give Britney credit for being more involved at this juncture. Going back to Baby One More Time, she had little or nothing to do with the creation of the album. She did a lot of dancing, a lot of singing, but no writing. She didn t have to, and she was probably so excited to be putting out an album that it wouldn t have mattered. Then came Oops! I Did it Again, which saw her name in the liner notes referring to the writing of the song Dear Diary, which makes sense. But as most young pop stars do (Think back to Tiffany, and her brilliant comeback attempt she made by writing...

Britney - Watch The Pop Princess Grow Up
Review created: 11/06/01
by: kristinafh -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Solid production, catchy songs not necessarily from the Max Martin machine.

Cons:
I Love Rock-n-Roll totally ruins this cd.

Today is the day that many young fans of pop have been waiting on the release of Britney s new, self-titled cd. I came here today with the intention of trashing this new product. Unfortunately, Britney has sucked me into her world and alas, I m sad to report that I like this cd. Now, is it of the same caliber as say other pop greats? No. Britney is no John Lennon. If you just put things in perspective, Britney just happens to do well at her craft. Let s do some history, shall we? When Britney first came out x years ago, I liked her pop music. Although Baby One More Time wasn t rocket science,.

 Different Genre - Same Silliness
Review created: 12/24/06
by: floatingcity-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Music

Pros:
Diverse, with a few nice bits of production.

Cons:
Weak singing, poor lyrics, lack of melody. Trades 'loud beats' for tunefulness way too often.

The third effort from the world s most prolific pop princess, the eponymous Britney sees Ms. Spears making a concerted effort to extend and develop her sound. As such, the Swedish hit factory that churned out the majority of the material on her first two albums has been relegated to a mere four songs, and more rhythm-focused producers such as Rodney Jerkins and The Neptunes have been brought in. On first listen, this album is actually a welcome respite after Spears first two. That s not to say that Britney is some kind of artistic revelation (far from it), but rather that having more...

Britney- It's Not A Classic, Yet Not That Bad
Review created: 10/05/03
by: donkee-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Music

Pros:
Some really good pop songs and dance tracks

Cons:
Britney's vocals aren't all that great, Bombastic Love!!!

When Britney Spears first arrived on the music scene in 1998, her debut album, Baby...One More Time was a hit. 3 years later, she released her self-titled third album, Britney, in 2001. The album is full of catchy pop songs and hot dance tracks (thanks to The Neptunes), and is an pretty good album overall. 1) I'm A Slave 4 U Britney collaborated with producers, The Neptunes on this dance track, which was also the first single off the album. I love the beat on this song. Britney's vocals are a bit whiny (as they usually are), but the song is fun to sing along with and is the perfect song to...
