Britax Marathon - Racer Convertible Car Seat

We decided to purchase this car seat after reading many reviews and saftey standards. This is one of, if not the, safest car seat on the market today. It is more expensive than other seats, but can be used for a long period of time. This is the first and only car seat we've ever had for our 8 month old daughter. Even though she was tiny at first, she snuggled in comfortably in this seat. It has the recommended five-point harness and I feel secure knowing that she's safe if something happens. We can use this seat until she's 65 pounds, giving us 4-5 years of use, maybe more! If you have a small car with a cramped backseat like we do, however, be prepared to surrender at least half of the backseat to this seat. It is very large! It was a bit difficult to put in because of our small back seat, but should not be a problem in larger cars.

In 2003, I decided to buy what was then considered the best convertible car seat (according to Consumer Reports). I believe it is a lot easier to buckle my little one (than some of the others I tried out) and she never did figure out how to unbuckle it. My middle child now uses that same Britax whereas my oldest is in a Marathon booster seat. My last child turned out to be more solid than the first two, so I needed another convertible car seat fast. I decided to stick with what I have liked in the past. I guess one might say I'm a Britax fan. I have had no problems and I figure the Marathon will last longer than the roundabout. These seats take up a lot of room but are solid. The are also easy to clean.
