Exploitation release of the worst kind.

Originally released on vinyl in January 1985 on Demi Monde [DM002], Bring Me The Head Of Yuri Gagarin was released amid a flurry of other Hawkwind official and exploitation releases (at least nine other albums were released in 1985). The album highlights the pitfalls which awaited Hawkwind fans in the mid-1980s.
On the surface the tracklisting and gig look promising - classic early Hawkwind. Do not be fooled. This was not a standout performance from the band and the album is actually a bootleg which sounds as though it was recorded on a primitive tape recorder through a thick overcoat. Regarded by many as the worst Hawkwind album ever released, I would have to agree.
If you are tempted to purchase this, buy Space Ritual instead. Seriously.
Note:-
This CD has been released with different titles and covers over the years, including 'Live' on Brilliant [BT 33032], 'Year 2000: Codename Hawkwind Vol. II (Alive from the Darkside)' on Burning Airlines [PILOT 64], and 'Silver Machine - Live' on Planet [PML 1075]. It also forms part of the shoddy multi-CD compilations 'Welcome To The Future', 'The Entire And Infinite Universe Of Hawkwind', and 'The Legends Collection - The Hawkwind Collection', all on Dressed To Kill [CLP0220-2, REDTK98 and TOPAK515 respectively]. If in doubt, check the track listing. If it is the same as this release or features the tracks 'In The Egg' and/or 'Gaga' it is either a reissue or a slapdash exploitation compilation.
