Album Notes Includes a previously unreleased track. Personnel include: Duncan Sheik (vocals, various instruments, programming); Howard Jones (piano); Patrick Leonard (keyboards, Moog synthesizer); Pino Palladino (bass guitar); Matt Johnson (drums, tambora). Recording information: 1996 - 2002. Adult-alternative singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik began turning out well-crafted albums that balanced folky roots with elements of mainstream rock in the mid 1990s. In addition to a keen ear for melody, Sheik also has a way with words and a penchant for spinning poetic, detail-rich narratives in a manner that recalls Paul Simon, Harry Chapin, or Leonard Cohen. BRIGHTER/LATER: A DUNCAN SHEIK ANTHOLOGY, a two-disc set, provides a generous overview of Sheik's art, spanning from 1996 to 2002, and includes gentle acoustic numbers, radio-ready rockers, and some of his experiments with orchestration.
