This is Sir Richard Attenborough's expensive epic, all-star-cast film about the true story of Operation Market Garden of WWII. It is an adaptation by William Goldman of Cornelius Ryan's text.
And the story goes, that in 1944, the Allies want to hurry up the end of WWII by taking control of 6 bridges that connect Germany to Holland. It turns out to be a notoriously failed attempt by the Allies. The film is an epic at nearly 3 hours long. However, with the likes of Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Elliot Gould, Gene Hackman, Sir Anthony Hopkins & Sir Laurence Olivier among the formiddable actors stacking the deck of this amazing cast, Attenborough's ambitious film, with a cast of thousands more, is awe inspiring & positively rivetting.
This is the Collector's Edition that has 2 discs~
