I will be forever moved by this movie!! Here I am a grown man fighting back tears in front of my 11 year old son, even having to turn away from him several times, barely able to handle the emotion this movie delivers. Coming from a horror flick fan that phases out the kiddie movies, this one captured my interest and never let go. I found myself captured by the real life hardships of being a kid in school, many of which brought me back to my school days. Whether you were the Bully or the Bullied, whether you were the new kid or one that wasn't able to go to school with the latest fads, this movie will force you to ponder your school days and add a special ingredient of that one special friend you could escape life's hardships with and move into a world of fantasy. Imagine how absolutely horrible it would be to have that world ripped away! The Boy took that pain and turned it into something good by reaching out and making someone else feel special! To label this as one of them feel good movies for kids would be grossly inaccurate as there is little "feel good" qualities about it with the exception of two kids with the need to escape from their own realities finding each other...but even that doesn't last long. Imagine having a million bucks then losing it overnight... I recommend this one to the young and the old, to parents, to classrooms, to everyone!! One other movie that had somewhat of a similar but lesser affect with me was "Pay it Forward" and then there was E.T.

Wonderful and creative movie, a movie you can't move away from as you are afraid you will miss something, great for kids and adults alike. just a great family movie. The imagination of the children in the movie is just awesome and creative at every turn. I wish children used their imagination these days but because of technology and computer games I guess that is out of the question.

Excellent movie for all ages! (I didn't buy this, recently viewed this movie while inflight to South Padre Island). At first I thought it was a children's movie and soon found out that it was an excellent movie for all ages. If you love fun and suspense, you will love watching Bridge to Terabithia. Children and adults may find it a tear jerker as it is very touching and keeps you very interested. warning: you may be laughing and crying ;-). Young and old will love this movie. I would definately purchase!

Nice, family movie with some imagination!

This is a great movie to rent. I like the theme of having some imagination and make-believe. This is something that young and old people today lose in an age of electronic everything. Kids spend more time on their play-stations than they do playing outdoors or being creative. This movie inspires creativity and at heart is the true magic of story-telling. There is a serious side, too, as life is serious. This is a classic book turned into a classic movie. Nicely done!

My daughter, grandson and I all watched this together. A wonderful film about love, friendship and courage.
If you are looking for a movie to watch with children, count this one as a must see.
For very sensitive children, there is a sad part.

Wonderful film to encourage imagination, fantasy and relationship.

Not Your Typical Childrens' Fantasy Film
Review created: 06/30/07
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This was an enjoyable, and much more thoughtful, film than I was expecting. The fantasy elements are kept to a minimum, but are nonetheless fun and creatively rendered. The two leads are both very good and I'm sure we'll be seeing much more of them.

What made this movie stand out, oddly, was the realism. The real magic in this movie isn't the fantasyland of Terabithia, but the magic inside the very real people who create it. There are some darker moments that would be best discussed by the entire family after the film.

I recommend this movie, but with the warning that you may need a tissue and will have to talk about a few things with your younger kids.

This is a great movie to share with the entire family. It dabbles into a close relationship between a boy and girl that became close friends. The boy finally accepts his sister after a tragedy. It is enlightening. I highly recommend this movie to all school agers.

This movie reminds you of the imagination of a child and the bond of friendship. Even though I have read the book and knew exactly what was going to happen I felt for the characters and cried with the main character as he mourned. I felt inspired to renew my faith in the greatness that makes the imagination so powerful. The acting was brillant and the CGI was placed perfectly without taking away from what the audience could imagine without it. Must see.

  Bridge to Terabithia Movie

My mom rented this movie for my eight-year-old "baby" sister and I to watch while she was at work. At first my sister, Mariah thought is was rather boring and dumb, but as the movie went on she started to like it. By the time she had finished the movie she was crying about Jess's loss and hit the remote to watch it again, this time with Mom. SHE END UP ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!

I read the book two times, the first being in 6th grade and the second being in 8th grade. The movie stayed very much with the plotline of the book, unlike some movies. Ever watch a movie and decide to read the book later on only to find that book and movie had different plotlines? Frustrating and disappointing, isn't it!

I especially loved that this movie taught about accepting others' differences, friendship, courage, imagination, dealing with grief and bereavement (loss of a loved one), and respect. The special effects were absolutely wonderful and very cool, and added a surreal, imaginative yet realistic dimension to the movie. Everybody who worked on this film did an excellent job---very talented group! Yes, Jess's dad does use some "colorful language," but there is profanity in the book too. (Not that it makes it right or okay. In fact I actually went to my 6th grade teacher about the "bothersome language" when I read it for the first time.) For those who find swearing bothersome or offensive, you may want to edit out the "bad" language while watching this movie.

FUN FAMILY FILM FOR ALL AGES! HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING THIS ONE!

  Seemingly Good (Looks Are Decieving)

This movie had an excellent plot and was very imaginative. The movie was good until the ending which was awful. For people who haven't seen this, I won't give away the ending, but this is a waste of precious time and may cause serious depression.

We have seen this movie on TV a few times and decided to get it for our kids. (13,11,8 & 6) Kind of a fantasy movie with good effects for younger viewers. Also covers well some areas a lot of films don't. Bullys, feeling left out, escaping to your backyard, good reliable friends. No violence, no language, no inuendos. I don't know if this was ever released in theaters. I never heard of it until we saw it on tv. It's a little Harry Potter'ish but without all the witchcraft. I'll even watch it with the kids once in a while. Didn't expect the ending, but it does pull it together.

Incredible and Powerful Film for the Whole Family
Review created: 06/03/09(updated 06/03/09)

I may be few and far between with my feelings on this film but I enjoyed it much more than I enjoy your average family film. Annasophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson are almost guaranteed solid performances in the future and I'm excited to see them act as adults. The symbolism and aesthetic qualities of the story are outstanding. It's like I'm reading a classic piece of literature in school, I really think there's more to this film than a stupid 90 minute piece of entertainment parents throw their kids at.

  VERY GOOD MOVIE
Review created: 05/30/09

This video is very good. It has amazing monsters and creatures, sometimes makes you cry, and is at some points funny. But, I think that the movie overshows the land of Terabithia, and doesn't show quite enough of Jess' and Leslie's relationship. I know someone else who thinks that too. Overall: great movie.

  Bridge to Terabithia DVD
Review created: 03/11/09

This movie was picked as a family movie by my 11 year old son. Store price $10.00 ebay price $ 1.50. The movie was wonder full however it left us both in tiers. I have passed it on to co-works letting them know that it would make them cry. Over all we were very glad that we made the purchase. More a family movie that then a childrens movie. In the future I plan to buy the origins book that the movie was based on.
