Rainy Day Classic

This 80's film is a clever twist on the Frankenstein story. Demented, yet sexy, scientist Baron Charles Frankenstein creates a beautiful woman stitched together from corpses. Eva is played by the lovely Jennifer Beals of "Flashdance" fame.
The set design and costuming is fabulous, and while Jennifer Beals' acting is a bit stiff (that's ok, she's playing an animated corpse), Sting is a pleasure to watch as an actor. You may recognize Eva's love interest, Captain Josef, as Cary Elwes from "The Princess Bride." Quentin Crisp even has a delightful role in the film.
The Viktor monster character is adorably sweet, and I enjoy the relationship between him and "Rinaldo the Midget" played by David Rapaport. Some of the "circus" scenes are a bit overlong, I think.
I don't think this 1980s movie is too dated to be enjoyable. Try it on a rainy day with plenty of hot tea, chocolate or coffee.
