Director Terry Gilliam is visionary is this very surrealistic view into the future. If you'd like to get freaked out by the distopian future, you'll love this movie.

This was another great movie a la Monty Python, but very scary and prophetic.
The main character's mother looking for immoral beauty, and the corrupt and inefficient and stupid and callous government and its workers are. Too bad many people refuse to learn other ways that miht be more advantages to life.

if youre into weird and unique movies then brazil is right up your alley. its one of those movies that you have to watch twice, its a unique look into an abstract future almost with no computers but with every other electronic gadget, its funny to see a typewriter all rigged up for computer functions...its a very cool film,

  Funny, Funny Movie
Review created: 10/08/06

This movie is one of the funniest I've ever seen. The jokes were fresh and orginal, real knee slappers. The storyline plays a great interesting pun a terrorists. Both educated and average people can laugh at this one since the jokes aren't just stupid knock-knocks. An interesting joke of this movie is it has absolutely nothing to do with the country of Brazil! I highly recomend this one to anyone who likes comedies.
Thanks For Ready And Hope I Helped!

Surrealist Black Comedy Cult Film - Sweeet!
Review created: 09/17/06
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The future looks very convoluted. Very high tech but nothing works, the government means well but it is paranoid and over-eager, simplicity is complex and nothing is what it should be. Of course this comes from the mind of Terry Gilliam.

To try to describe this movie is not easy. Basically the wrong man has been arrested and is up to one lowly official to correct the error. Thing is that the government mistakenly thinks Sam - the lowly official - is behind terrorist attacks. Poor Sam is miserable with his life and all he wants to do is fly away with the girl of his dreams - whoever that may be.

This movie is a fun, quirky, dark comedy that is NOT for everyone. If you are looking for a straight forward, simple minded comedy - move on. But if you have been told that you have a strange sense of humor then join us!

Very artfully made, a great satire of society.

A darkish comedy that panders in the ridiculousness of paperwork and bureaucracy, Brazil is a wonderfully imaginative film. I will admit I have only watched half of it so far, but I'm just too excited to review it. Watch for the dream sequences, they are so brilliant that I wished they made up the entire film!

Typical Terry Gilliam. Made top 25 Sci-Fi movies from Entertainment Weekly, but I don't agree. Kind of a spoof on 1984, but not as good as Time Bandits or Adventures of Baron Munchousen.
