There is absolutely nothing that I dislike about this wonderfully written novel. I bought it at half-com because I couldn't afford to buy it at the regular price and my local library couldn't purchase it. I also happen to know Jennie very well and have read most of her books.
Jenniw writes an exciting tale about a young woman who gets entangled in a mighty web of trickery and conniving deceit from a supposed friend and future husband. She works to get away from him and works her way into different jobs in order to get to America, where she meets her true friends that help her to know who she can trust and where she saves the life of one true friend. She has her own life threatened by being kidnapped, but gets herself out of that, she witnesses a man being shot and robbed and saves the life of this man, but steals some jewels from him and people she had workied for and replaces them with ones from her bracelet her ex-fiance has given her as a bethrothal gift, but finds out later, it was just a bribe.
I can't wait to read the sequel, as I've read the firest chapter from Jennie's website. I highly recommend this great novel about 19th century England with all the suspense, adventure and romance and early days of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
