"Boys On The Side" has been a favorite film of mine since I first saw it in 1995. Whoopi Goldberg, Mary Louis-Parker and Drew Barrymore all give fantastic performances. The story and characters are real, touching and believable. The three women, from wildly diverse backgrounds, come to develop friendships that withstand all tests. This film will make you laugh, cry and think. Very powerful. My wife and I were very happy to add this to our DVD collection at a low price.

) "Boys on the Side" has elements of the "road" movie — in this case, three women hitting the road and heading west, each leaving behind a past. Each of the three leads turns in a powerful performance. But what drives the movie along is the kickass soundtrack featuring songs by such artists as Bonnie Riatt, Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLaughlan, Sheryl Crow, and Melissa Etheridge. The movie is great fun, but with a sad underside. Have a box of tissues with you for the end of the movie.

This movie tells the story of 3 strangers that become the best of friends even through overwhelming obstacles. From illness, homosexuality, and domestic violence to death, falling in love and prison. It is a great well rounded movie. Highly recommended for a roller coaster of emotions wrapped up in 2 hours.

I liked that it took three women with nothing (seemingly) in common and took them on a road trip where they found they had more in common than anatomy. A light-hearted movie. But not so deep, profound or thrilling that I would watch again. I bought it because I had wanted to see it when it was in the theaters but my ex-husband said it looked too girly and I bought it for less than a movie ticket and thought it would be worth a watch - but I am not keeping it - probably giving it away to another woman (yes - definitely a chick-flick) for a one time watch.
