Movie Description
Director Makhmalbaf based this feature on his own experiences prior to the Islamic Revolution. The main character, Valeh (Majid Majidi), is sentenced to death for his leftist ideals, and has time to consider these beliefs while locked in his cell. As he begins to doubt his faith, his political sympathizers hope he will martyr their cause, but facing death and the hardships of his wife on the outside begin to break down his idealism.
