The Boxcar children
The Boxcar Children series is about 4 orphans living with their grandfather. My son loves these books and so do I. Not only are they fun to read, it's fun to try to solve the mystery that unwinds in each one. These books are perfect for 2-5th grade. Older children tend to think they are immature. They are lower level (k-3)AR books, book level 3.9 for anyone involved in the Renaissance Reading program. Children earn 2 points when they score 100% on the AR test. They are a refreshing change from fighting and violence, teaching family values, compassion and thinking skills. It is best to start with Boxcar Children #1 and then they can be read in any order. Happy reading!
