The Misfits Coffin Box Set (4CDs Caroline Records 1996)

This box set is a must for any Misfits fan! Even if you own all the CDs from the Glenn Danzig era, this compilation includes a lot of exclusive stuff you won't find anywhere else! And it all comes in a very stylish and appropriate Coffin-Shaped Box with faux-velour lining wherein sit the 2 Double-CD cases, the exclusive fired-enamel "Fiends Club" badge, and the 28-page booklet which includes extensive liner notes from Eerie Von, a track listing for each disc, complete lyrics for 50 of their best songs, a complete discography from 1977-1995, and tons of exclusive pictures and memorabilia. All-In-All, everything you could possibly ask for and more! As a collector, I chose to purchase the original and rare 1st printing release, which has been long out-of-print and therefore highly desirable. There have been follow-up releases of this boxed set, but with some changes; most notably in a slightly inferior quality to the product's contents, like a more cheaply made Coffin Box and "Fiend's Club" badge. So this review covers the original 1st printed edition only, as I feel the later editions should be reviewed separately due to the differences in quality. So if you are a serious Misfits fan and/or a music collector, my advice is to put your money on the original, out-of-print 1996 Caroline Records Coffin Box set.
