Captain Tractor: Bought the Farm

Brilliant CD by a very unique Celtic rock band. (I do hate that tag. It's so limiting, and holds a lot of very good bands down to the level of novelty bands, imho. But whatcha gonna do?)
I don't know much about these guys, found them as a recommendation via Amazon, but I will be buying the rest of their albums.
If you enjoy Seven Nations, Wolfstone, Runrig and the like, you will very certainly like Captain Tractor.
Rough around the edges, with a dark sense of humor, some great fiddlework, this is just a fun album to listen to. Probably not something you want to listen to in the car with the wee kiddies, as there is the occasional bad word, and one song has the F bomb in it a few times. (Of course, nothing worse than my kids would probably hear from their dear old mom anyway.)
But the songs are fun, and range from a love song involving a bloody nose, a love song involving a frozen puck to the head, a kind of celtic-islandish invitation to "go to Hell and save a place for me", nice and bouncey, tuneful, fun to listen to.
I don't know if this band is still together, will look them up. Seem like they'd be the ultimate party band, and you have to love a Celtic Rock band that winds up with a very straight version of If I Were a Rich Man.
Call me a sucker for anything with a fiddle and a squeezebox, but this album is great fun.
