Movie Description When Cheech Marin is accidently deported to Mexico without i.d. or knowledge of Spanish and unable to convince U.S. officials to let him back in the U.S., the comedy begins. In between unsuccessful schemes to cross the border he gets duped by a dippy doorman, picked on by prison pals, and smitten by a senorita.

Notes Based on Cheech Marin's song, "Born in East L.A.," a parody of Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A."
"Born in East L.A." was Cheech's first effort after splitting with Tommy Chong.

Some television cuts of the film run 93 minutes, 6 minutes longer than other prints. The New York Times listed the running time as 98 minutes.
