A great reference bird book

I first saw this book at a friend's house, and immediately wanted one. I have now bought one for myself, and three others for friends and relatives. Each bird has its own page. The color illustrations are lovely, and show the personality of the bird, not just field markings. Field marks, habitat, nesting habits and food are listed at the bottom of the page. The charming commentaries include distinctive calls, daily habits, viewing tips, and little anecdotes. I love this book.
It is a heavy book, and therefore not suitable for use as a field guide. Outstanding as a reference,it includes 471 pages of individual birds, plus a Special Collection of rarities, and an excellent Traveler's Guide for Birding sites in North America. You won't regret buying this book.
