Synopsis
Robert Crumb, the notoriously raunchy underground comics father figure and creator of such unforgettable characters as Fritz the Cat, presents a graphic adaptation of the first book of the Bible. Relishing in the Book of Genesis's most scandalous moments (Lot and his daughter's incestuous relationship, wrathful acts of revenge from God and man, and other such made-for-the-tabloids situations), Crumb claims to be taking a "literal" interpretation, although it sometimes reads as more of a satire. Biblical scholars and religious stalwarts may debate, but Crumb's sense for visual storytelling that comes through in his adaptation is indisputable.
