I have purchased and read all of Cornwell's books and was anxious to read the latest one. I finished in a weekend, as usual to get to the end and see if the bad guys are all caught. This book didn't have what I normally consider a good detailed closure. While the guilty parties are mentioned, nothing is said about what happens to one of them, and lose ends are left about the final outcome of several others. Also, one of the scenerios was left open to obviously go into another book, which is fine. I didn't think this was one of her greatest or near the top for that matter. NOt only for what I previously mentioned as to the ending, but because I have become used to several cases going on at a time, and they were very limited in this book, and there was great, too much even, detail on the forensics end. I love reading about the current technologies and abilities of some agencies to obtain some of the most unobtainable information and details from a crime scene, however, in this book, I felt that alot of the details were too too much, and the usual extra probing, looking for clues, and putting two and two together just wasn't there. I do like to see some of the Scarpetta's personal life involved in these stories, and some more of that was added here, and looks like it will continue on in future books.
