This is the book that started my interest in Preston&Childs novels. Esp FBI agent Pendegast. This book goes from the begining, returned jewels stolen from the Mueseum, murderin the new Eygptian display. An FBI agent in prison framed by his evil brother. A mystery an exciting fight in thenewest maximum security prison yardthat leads to a bold escape. Police who are helpless in solving the strange and frightening murders. A faithful friend who is an ex-police Leiutenant. All this combines into a thriller ending on an evening opening of the exhibit.

  The Book of the Dead

I love this series. You must read all of the books. Even my 85 year old Mother is reading them. It starts with Relic and then goes on thru several books. If you want to sample the series try Still Life with Crows. It doesn't connect to the other characters so stands alone. I did read several out of order which is fine. The books were even better when I started over at the first one. I picked up details that were lost by reading out of order.

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally
takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link http:
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=5173274

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer
up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

If you have any questions feel free to message me!! I'll Respond ASAP.
If you want hints/tips about the whole process, I'd be happy to fill you
in.

This book carries on the excellent story of Diogenes and Aloysius Pendergast. One of those books it was almost impossible to put down once I started reading it. Almost consumed it in one sitting.

One of the Best Books You'll Ever Read
Review created: 08/13/07(updated 12/30/07)

This was the first in this dynamic duo's series of Agent Pendergast books that I had read. I was hopelessly hooked thereafter. If you like action adventure to the nth degree, then these fellas are for you. I have read all their other books since my first foray into their world and it hasn't disappointed yet. Eventhough I started at the end of this storyline(which began with Brimstone & then Dance of Death), it didn't confuse me at all. This mega thriller also has romance, mystery, horror, and a level of technicality that will actually teach you a thing or two. These authors are an absolutely, positively, your life depends on it (kidding), must read.

Not as good as The Cabinet of Curiosities or Brimstone, or Still Life with Crows. I think Pendergast has lost substance.

Pendergas finale Maybe? I hope not.
Review created: 10/06/06

This book culminates many of the ideas and hints from all of the prior books. It can be read as a stand-a-lone book, but if you like to read between the lines, this book offers insights that you would otherwise miss. I stayed up at night just to finish it. Lincoln and Child have hit a high with this book. It could end here. I hope it does not. I can see a few books in the meantime before another Pendergas book, but I think his presence is a bonus. It reminds me of Sherlock Holmes. Teh caracter's insights are terrific.

  Like an ice cream sundae
Review created: 08/13/06

I have been a fan of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs since stumbling on a copy of Relic when it was donated to my library years ago. I have been fascinated by the way two separate individuals write so well together. This third installment regarding the deathlike struggle between Agent Prendergast and his brother Diogenes, is like an ice cream sundae; tasty, satisfying, yet leaving you hankering for just a bit more. Fortunately, there are a couple very strong hints at the end of the book that lead readers to wonder what is coming next. If you missed any of the earlier books, eBay is perfect for filling in the gaps, and after you have read Reliquary, you might even think about picking up a copy of Jennifer Toth's "The Mole People: Life in the tunnels beneath New York City" which is an excellent read about the people who really do live under the city.

Excellent book, page turner, worth giving up a night's sleep for. Third in a trilogy - buy the others too - Brimstone, Dance of Death and this one. All the Preston Child books are superior. I have given these as gifts. They are that good.
