The Book of Beads by Janet Coles, Robert Budwig (1990, Hardcover)

This book is the bible of beads. I bought this copy as a replacement for one lost in a recent move. It is a must have for new beaders and a great refresher for the experienced.

Lot of information about beads from different cultures, complete with lots of eye candy photos. This is not a project or technique book, more of a history or bead collector book. It could be more thorough on what it covers, but the items it does contain are well done.

The photographs were excellent. This is a good book for someone just beginning
jewelry designing or pursuing an interest in beads. An informative guide on
beads and their history.

I had borrowed this book from a friend and decided that I wanted one of my own. I expecially like the beading ideas provided in the book. However, some of the beading directions are a little difficult to understand for the novice beader as compared to other beading books. This book also provides suggestions when using different colors, such as blue, pastels, reds, etc. It also provides ideas for using different bead shapes. I would recommend this book for someone looking for design ideas.

Borrowed this book from the Library and knew I needed to own it. Most comprehensive book I had seen.

Fabulous reference source. For design, inspiration and authenticity. It's a beautiful and informative book to study as to bead and design origin.
