The Boogeyman (DVD, 2005, Special Edition)

Sorry if there are fans of this movie out there, but this movie sucked. Pretty much like Darkness Falls (in story and lack of a good script) but substitute the tooth fairy for boogeyman. Kid watches his father getting sucked into the closet by the boogeyman. He comes back as a hot young-adult wanting to face his fears. Blah, blah, blah.

The story has been done many times before and is predictable. The acting is so understated it is non existent, they just walk around with the same facial expressions the whole time - when they show fear their eyes get wider, that's how you can tell!

Don't bother with this one, Monster's Inc was a better (and scarier) monster-in-the-closet movie.

THis movie was the most boring piece of garbage I've seen in awhile. The movie starts out great, but just drags on and on until the end where you finally meet this guy. Many of the scenes kept myself asking what happened? The ending was weak and could have been much better, The movie kept me guessing at times, which held my attention so I gave it a 3

Where is the Boogey Man? He is only at the end of the movie. The effects for the Boogey Man were nice. But it was a made for TV type movie until the last 10-15 minutes. There are better horror movies out there.

I thought it was a good, scary movie. I'm not impressed with teen-age gore & this movie doesn't really have it. It's acceptable to watch with 10 year olds or an ' adult-only ' crowd. If you are a HUGE horror flick fan, this may not be enough for you. This movie is a good, stay-at-home-and-watch-a-scary-movie movie.

I've certainly seen much worse! I felt like a couple of scenes fizzled out where they had great potential, but overall it's not a bad movie.

I was all alone. I turned off all the lights and began this movie which I was really looking forward to. I have to admit, the first 30 minutes gave me the creeps....but as soon as you see the "boogeyman" you'll laugh at how cheesy the effects are, and how not scary this is. Too bad!

The best thing about this movie was Lucy Lawless..the worst thing was..storyline, the script, the acting, the whole damn thing other then Lucy sucked! Terrible storyline, horrid script, lazy boring acting (not counting Lucy Lawless..she did a spectacular job as always) sadly Luce didn't have much to work with) Steer clear of this film unless you love Lucy Lawless..sadly her part is small..not worth buying or renting!

i only bought this movie because my kids wanted it , i really didn't watch it myself.my kids lied it a lot though, they watch it with their friends often.

The movie was average, it was not too scary, to me it was a waste of time looking at it. I would advise anyone not to buy it.

I LIKE THE MOVIE OVERALL, BUT IT WASN'T THAT SCARY, AND THERE ARE LIKE ONLY 3 "MAJOR" PARTS IN THE MOVIE THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUALY "BOOGEYMAN" AND THE CHARACTER... I JUST THUINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT MORE SCARY, THATS THE ONLY PURPOSE IN A HORROR MOVIE IS TO SCARE THE BE-JESES OUT OF YOU, AND IT JUST DIDNT DO THAT FOR ME...

Popcorn...lights out...a blanket to hide under - That's all you'll need for this EXCELLENT Scary Movie, with no scenes of splashing blood or horrible torture. Showed it to my 55+ aged parents, would show it to my age 11 cousin, it's just fun, old-fashioned quality scares with modern twists. Don't expect a brilliant ending, but by then you'll be exhausted from all the laughing and screaming. (Also recommend 'White Noise' and 'The Grudge').

Scariest Movie On The Market. So-So Ending But, The Movie Is Frightening!

I have a heart condition so I had to stop the movie and walk away so my heart wouldn't overload. I've never been so scared since I was a little kid and agraid of the Boogeyman!

I've seem many horror flicks, this should go down as one of the scariest.

I can't believe I threw my girlfriend's hard earned cash in the trash just to watch a recycled piece of trash like this. I wanted to walk out of the theater 25 minutes into the movie because the director obviously likes to use a shaky camera, lots and lots and lots of editing and loud shrieking music to try to scare you rather than use something called imagination. There is one scene where the guy walks into the closet and is attacked by shirts...but if you look closely, he's the one throwing them around with his own arms! And with a little help from the editing room, that's supposed to make you cover your eyes in horror. I just yawned. That's as far as this movies originality goes.

I can't tell the difference between this one, and "Darkness Falls." Maybe because I fell asleep when I watched both. Not for everyone, but the movie obviously has it's audience. Just full of negativity on this one...

It was a replacement for one that my daughter had recieved as a gift that had been stolen. She liked the movie,I thought it was mediocre at best.

You cant expect too much from PG-13 rated horror film. But with what they had to work with it was pretty good. A lot better than the the crap you might see on cable or straight to video. The acting is well done. Special effects, not much you can do with the kiddie rating, so it relies more on the suspense aspect. There are some scary parts, the storyline is somewhat original, or atleast has not been done recently. I would highly recommend this film to watch with the kids, theres no blood, cursing, violence, or nudity. But has a few scares here and there.

I actually saw the second movie first and was amazed when I purchased and watched the first Boogeyman. It keep me intriged and on the edge of my seat following the story. If you like horror and suspense, you'll love this movie!

"The Ultimate" horrifying movie. The cast is excellent, and Barry Watson is "awesome"! I bought this dvd to add to my collection of horror dvd's. I would recommend this movie to anyone! Buy it!

good horror movie, not the highest budgeted movie i have seen, but then again thats what i like. the end needed a a little more but the movie was good either way.

Well, if you like scary movies you probably like to be "bumped" out of your seat with quick action and sound. Boogeyman certainly does that. Things happen so fast at first that you have to replay it to make sure you saw what you saw.

The ending was a little weird, but in keeping with the central concept of the movie. I'm glad I bought it.

I bought the movie for $1 so how can you go wrong?

not the greatest but still a good movie, keeps you on your toes wanting more .

ok, so this movie has a lot of drawn out scenes with very little explanation though the twists in the movie keep you wondering "what the heck is going on?" there were a few suspensful "nail biting" scenes, but if you're looking for scary or creepy you might be disapointed. Personally i think boogeyman 2 has more to offer than the first.
