Publisher's Note Examines the life and career of the speed-skating star who has won more Winter Olympics medals than any other American woman.
Industry Reviews Gr 4-6 Italia profiles speed skater Blair, winner of more gold medals than any other U.S. athlete in Winter Olympic history, touching on her family life, training, successes, and future plans. Cathy Breitenbucher's Bonnie Blair (Lerner, 1994) is a better book about the popular athlete. Wallner's biography of Hanks covers topics from his childhood and early roles to his Academy-Award winning performance in Philadelphia. Included are a list of the actor's TV shows and movies and an address where fans may write him. Unfortunately, the books contain some typographical errors, the many quotes are not documented, and at times the writing is awkward. The texts are illustrated with average-quality black-and-white photographs. Robin Works Davis, Hurst Public Library, TX Lopate
