Tess Gerritsen has written another super duper thriller! This time the past and present collide in this historical thriller set in present day Boston. Julia Hamill unearths a human skull while she is in her yard gardening. Our heroine, Maura Isles, medical examiner, finds that the remains are of a woman, who was murdered almost two centuries ago! Now the questions are....who was she and why was she killed and by who? It flashes back to Boston in the 1830's at Harvard Medical School. A student, Norris Marshall has been discovered robbing graveyards for fresh corpses. Norris is also accused of being a serial killer and in hopes of clearing his name he enlist the help of classmates to track down the real maniac. This part of the book gets down right chilling! What ensues is deadly, bloody chess matches through the graveyard between ingenious opponents and into hidden slaughter houses. Back to the present.....Isles has to determine how this bloody game ended!
I loved this book! Going from future to past and back to the future was what made the book an on-going adventure. There is explicit sex....just a warning, but if you know Gerritsen you already know that this goes with the violence.
